I think we can even check, if the likes of Andwil, Carino if they are U18 ready (which we could have done in the U16 SEABA tournament).

We have numbers of bigs in this age bracket like Daep, Borja, Ples, or Rota who are not raw but did not get invited atleast.

The bare minimum he can do as an incompetent coach is to put all the best talent available and he still fails at that.
I follow some of the UAAP high school games. Honestly Im not impressed with Jireh atm.

When you are playing in a weak tournament, you basically want to use the guys that needs development, in our situation, the bigs. You can see there if the kid you wanna develop got what it takes. This coach man, so diferent. Maybe worse than his dad.

I always believed that most of his succesful games, internationaly are because of his better assistant coaches,so if he has the right players and really good assistant coaches then he has a succesful season.

Nice to see Drei Lorenzo of the Red Cubs made it. The one with the blue cap. He a 6’5 jump shooting big that plays similarly to Yukien Andrada (former Batang Gilas). Because of his skills he fits the system of Josh Reyes.

Lorenzo is a starter for the Red Cubs in the last two seasons.

        • Not really familiar, but who is the tallest one out here that would play as big?

          • There was a youtube post which stated that somebody is stopping the inclusion of taller and more talented u18 pinoy and filam ballers. Can somebody identify this animal even with a coded "hidden" name? Whoever these crazy animals are must be identified, as unrecyclable garbage will be sent again as in the u16.

Some kind of corruption may be involved, but the sbp may not be expected to investigate. If the sbp wants to establish its integrity, it must publish the financing and sponsorship support for each pinoy nt.

These pbs nts stinks as badly as chinese graham bap nts. Or was bap chinaman replaced by an even more notorious filchi perhaps in forming pbs nts? Palakasan na sport nga, puro balik-palakasan pa ulit ang selection.

This the one with zero buckets? The "nanghaharang" ones? If yes, maybe it is within the management of the talented players. This is like the Gilas SMC players in 2010s where the SMC forbids their players from playing for Gilas because of injury.

              • I think these tweets sum it up

When fans say, “Batang Gilas should get this 6’7++ kid,” the implicit assumption is the kid will already be or is close to being as good as this kid from China (Yang Hansen). That just isn’t the reality in our country, guys. Oh how we wish it was, but it isn’t.

Pinoy talents with this size, mobility, and durability are extremely rare exceptions (the AJ-Carl-Kai generation from 2000-2002… you could even count QMB there… might never happen again in our lifetime).

These can be applied with our bigs like Andwil and the other projects which is understandable.

                  But,

When you have players like Sanderson, Ples who are definitely better players than the other ones in that U17 team, you must give them the spot.

The fans logic is just "put all the best talents available in the team" which ofcourse is right. But the coach does not want that, he has the chance to put the high-caliber players in the team which are really willing to play (like Sanderson) and he chose to stick with players who were undeserving (well, I could say they deserve it but there are better choices for better results) to be in the team.

Yeah the coaches know more than most fans. Unless you really watch high school hoops. And if you watch HS hoops, youll see how little some of the bigs play.

Hello! Ples isn’t that good. He’s around 18 and same age as Red Cubs Canete and Lorenzo. He was eligible to play for the Season 98 Red Cubs of Dungo, JE Lopez, Sollano, Hubilla, Wacky Ludovice et al. But did not make it and was instead relegated to the 3x3 Red Cubs team. It only indicates how far he is from that Red Cubs NCAA team.

One thing’s for sure is that his family has deep pockets to shoulder his overseas training.

But are the 5-10 SGs and 6 foot SFs good also?Is Chua, Banal, Arejola that good that they were included last U17 WC. I mean if the minions are nit good either , I would go with taller even raw players since there might be future for them later on fir Gilas. And a 6-6 forward like Carino and 6-10 Yap or Calanasan can intimidate offensive players inside or get rebounds than those 6 foot guards...

Exactly..Wasted opportunity , I just can't fathom why there were 6 6-1 and below players in that WC team. It's okay if they were sana Kiefer Alas level, that they are really that good that they can get away with their size disadvantage. But no they are nit even good enough to make it to their Kiddies UAAP team....But you send them to the World Cup

Oh I see, I stand corrected thanks. I was expecting him because of stint in Spain currently. Also I did not know Ludovice played for San Beda lol.
