Let's start hyping this kid until the inevitable criticism from forumers here if he doesn't pan out. If this kid doesn't make it to the NBA by 21, I fully expect Pinoy forumers here to be on full-blown hate mode. Discuss.

I at least hope he has better management than our previous prospects

The kid has been developing well so far. He first got noticed in the U16 team IRC. Pretty decent passing but became a black hole once he put the ball on the floor.
The more notable thing about him though was his transformation in the pandemic lull. The kid with probly his father and friends help did a workout program focused on increasing his explosiveness so he could dunk. And he did.
In the season that followed everything combined well for him. Je grew a bit, added some muscle and the explosiveness. He had skills before but his athletic development made him one of the best guards in HS here.
So the kid does a history of development. Not sure if he has it in him to be decent in the US. I mean 6’0 guards are not typically the guys we send abroad. But he has some potential. He is a trailblazer of some sorts. Lets see how he does.

I won't expect much but I'd consider it a success if this Gemao kid develops and becomes better than Scottie, The Blur, CJ Perez, Pringle, Romeo, or any one of our active top guards in their prime. It won't be a cake walk to surpass that bar but considering the kind of head start he has, it can be done.

Judge him when he turns 28 lol.
I think the key to keeping the OA over-hypers/over-criticizers away is to have no video. That way they'll have a hard time making content just like the case for Panopio and other pinoy kids who tried US high school (Duremdes bros, Anonuevo, etc).
But if Gemao wants the spotlight (there's a possibility he does) then he better be mentally prepared if it goes south.

So if we liken it to immigrants, they were first generation immigrants while Gemao is a bona-fide immigrant. Maybe his hunger might prove to be the difference.
