Do we have lists or names of players between 16 and 17?

Gilas Prospect : Tyler BaileyZero Buckets on Social Media:▸Follow on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ZeroBuckets▸Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagra...

Hope we can have this kid in next year's U-17 World Championship. Bailey was suppose to play for this ongoing FIBA Asia U-16 Championship but I think since its now back to school in the US, he wasn't available for Batang Gilas this time.

But with next year's World U-17 Championship slated late June to July, that's summer school vacation in the US so Bailey wud be available.

If this kid ends up around 6-foot-5 or 6-foot-6 and playing as a natural shooting guard, he may be a good Gilas senior team material in the future.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Basketball has become much more competitive now in terms of development. To be elite, kids have to be training really early or at least playing another sport really early. No way going around it.
Shame. We really could use some size for this tournament. For now, happy that we qualified.

Fans should guess which country has the only midget nt for world level basketball. As usual, a lot of pinoys lunatically will be very happy with the mere "experience" and "participation", and will not mind seeing the team very predictably crushed by much bigger, skilled teams.

U16 and U18 tournaments is a battle of different programs in the youth level:
                • Teen-aged pros from Clubs - Europe, some LatAm, Africa in some cases (kids got scouted, go to Europe to play as pros, retain their citizenship)
                • Schools / Clubs Hybrid - Australia , NZ (maybe), Japan ( i see this model in the JBA twitter feed)
                • AAU / Prep schools - USA , Canada,
                • High school program from big schools invested in athletics - Korea, Philippines ( maybe changing with kids coming from FilAmNation, etc)
                • Government sponsored - China ( though they have kids now in the US circuit)
                • Real amateur - LOLz, this doesnt exist anymore

Not in anyway accurate, and our resident Kiwi may correct me, but in a nutshell, these are how they operate youth level basketball programs around the world.

Schools / Clubs hybrid is somewhat similar to AAU / Prep Schools, but in the US, schools are mandated not to overtrain kids, and there are set guidelines for this. Look it up if you dont believe . And AAU is independent and is not affiliated to any big pro teams ( not a feeder to the NBA or any semi-pro league)

forget the height difference but even the weight difference is glaring, sometimes heft can offset height so we need to put some muscle on these pinoy kids.

can't the smc group institute a feeding program together with the sbp?

we can't rely on parents alone to provide proper nutrition to their athlete sons and daughters. personally i'd look at the top 100 paserelle players in the country and provide them and their family the right food so that the kid can grow strong and healthy. who knows, some of them might grow up tall and strong because they were given proper food.

fyi, giannis agent had to sponsor his entire family and fed them nutritious food since giannis kept on bringing home his allowance and meals to this family just to contribute food to the family.

Its our DNA. Look at Kai, had all the training in the USa but his body isn't big yet to compete still with US players. Look at Lebron Lopez hasn't even step on the US but his body is well build already. All the training and diet can be given to Kai but his DNA will only let him be as big or athletic not training.

I'm sure Kai is already in the upper echelons in terms of athleticism. The problem is he'll always look worse compare to the top 1% of basketball players in the world. The reason he looked so athletic when he was still with TSF was because he was playing mostly against a bunch of randos who probably doesn't have any future playing pro ball. Compared that to him playing even against unathletic pro Caucasian players.

Francis Lopez might look mighty athletic compared to his local and Asian counterparts but we don't know how he fares against western players. There's a wide gap of talent talaga.

Nah just this two games. The physical attributes are just wide by this age. We catch up once we reach 23. Like Romeo is almost the same size as the guards in this u16 especially no. 7. But Romeo now and in game against France not much of advantage.
