    • This is a new NZ team, with a new coach, for the next 4 year Olympic cycle, it doesn't have their regular players, Ili, Tai, Te Rangi, Ngatai, Delaney , Fotu , Wetzell. , while Corey Webster is included , he actually already retired from the NBL ( does not have a contract these season), While many of the pool member are indeed team A players, they have very little experience playing together in FIBA, enclosed below are the players who have been playing well in the current NBL season and who you should watch out for

      Top 5 Kiwi performances from Round 7 of NBL action.... Sam Mennenga (v MU) 25points (10/12fg) 4reb, 2ast in 19min (Also 14points, 6reb, 2ast v 36ers) Sam Waardenburg (v Brisbane) 21points (6/11fg), 8reb, 3ast in 30min Tyrell Harrison (v Cairns) 14points (4/10fg), 20reb (9off) in 30min Flynn Cameron (v NZ) 20points (6/10fg), 3reb, 1ast in 20min
Izayah Afa - 23 pts for Sydney vs NZ , Harris starts for Perth is a utility defender who should guard Brownlee

Good thing that it's just a mild sprain. I think in 2 or 3 days time, Kai can play/practice/srimmage

But I think Tamayo's team still has a game on Nov. 14 if I'm not mistaken.

            • PBA Finals is over. Our guys have time to rest before the window. Especially JB, Scottie, Oftana, and Japeth.

Should be Japeth. Mason is hit or miss in his Team B games depending if his shot is on.

Yeah. It's better that the PBA Governor's Cup finals ended in game 6 instead of game 7 as JB, Iskati & Oftana will have a few days of rest before plunging into Gilas training for the 2nd window. Becoz if the finals would go to game 7, JB & company will hardly have any rest going into Gilas training.

                        • No Jordan Heading for the 2nd window?

It's frustrating that Japeth is still considered for the 2nd window despite AJ Edu already available for the 2nd window. Gilas already have a solid frontline with Kai, Junmar, AJ Edu, Tamayo & JB (who plays both the 4 & 3 positions). It's the positions 1 & 2 na manipis tayo with Iskati, CJ Perez, Chris Newsome & Dwight Ramos. Coach Tim should have added Jordan Heading instead of keep on recalling Japeth for Gilas service despite his advanced age. I think it's time for coach Tim to retire Japeth Aguilar for good from the national team.

With June Mar, Kai, and AJ, we don't need Japeth that much. However, when one or two of Kai and AJ is unavailable, that's when we need another rim protecting big. That's when Japeth comes into play. However, Japeth's 37, and was subpar this Finals on both ends.

In the alternative, we need a good defensive wing who can at least prevent dribble penetration. JB can defend, but he's 36, and he couldn't stop some TNT PnR's in the Finals. Oftana was decent in the OQT on that end, team-defense wise, but I also noticed that he did stay connected after getting screened too. I rewatched some parts of the OQT games. Hope Malonzo can be a decent man-to-man defender. We will especially need that when JB retires.

                            • I always believed that in forming a team you should have 5 players comprising the 5 & 4 positions, 5 players comprising the 1 & 2 positions. Of course there are players versatile enough to play at least 2 positions as in the cases of Justin Brownlee who plays both the 4 & 3 positions, Dwight Ramos able to play the 2, 3 spots & perhaps even the point guard spot, AJ Edu able to play both the center & 4 positions. Usually its the players playing the 3, 2 & 4 positions who are versatile.

My Gilas 12-man roster for the 2nd window would be like this:

Kai, Edu, Junmar at center (Edu can play the 4 spot)

Tamayo & JB at the four spot (JB can slide to the 3 spot)

Oftana & Quiambao at the 3 spot

CJ Perez, Newsome, Jordan Heading & Dwight Ramos at the 2-guard spot (Newsome & Heading can play as point guards while Dwight can play as a 3)

Iskati as the team's main point guard.

I think this is a more balanced line-up.
