New Zealand basketball has replaced Pero Cameron as the Tall Black's head coach & will have a new head coach in the coming 2nd window in Novermber. This only means one thing - New Zealand will be on transition when it faces Gilas in November.

"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

I can't help but be excited on the trio of Kai Sotto, Junmar Fajardo & AJ Edu at the center position with Gilas in the coming 2nd window of the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup qualifier this November. That would be a formidable frontline.

Would guys still consider Japeth to be part of Gilas if he continues his stellar offensive plays this year? I don't know what happened to him, maybe fatherhood, but his offensive game has been phenomenal this comm cup. Unfortunately, it took him almost 15 years to have this kind of a season. Could have been the face of Ph basketball and our version of KG/TD/CB.Samahan ng mga Bopol ng Pilipinas

I think we should stay away to the mindset of "andian naman si Japeth eh" just in case Kai, AJ and JMF suddenly becomes sick
yes we do recognize his talent and contribution to the program no argument there
but the program must focus towards young blood and grassroot development
Argentina's Luis Scola(now retired) is a different animal and we cannot compared the dude to ours
as for CTC's strong stand that he wll stick to his original 12 as part of his 4 year program up to 2028 LA Olympics
and will only allows Japs and Mason from time to time, well let's respect that and just enjoy the ride
but from 2028 and beyond, we do hope our frontline may be improve and deeper height-wise,
also age-wise.

No coach Tim, its your PBA that will cause the delay of Gilas training for the 2nd window. If you check the B-league schedule, you'll see that it will take a brief break about 10 days prior to the start of the 2nd window qualifier of the Asia Cup. By Nov. 12, available na po for Gilas training sina Kai Sotto, Dwight Ramos & AJ Edu.
Si Carl Tamayo lang among the Gilas player playing overseas that will be late in joining Gilas dahil may game pa yung KBL team nya on Nov. 14.
I'm just praying that the PBA Commisioner's Cup finals won't reach to a game 7 so that PBA Gilas players would be available earlier than expected. Since Ginebra has a very good chance of making it to the finals, if the finals would go to a winner-take-all game 7 then Gibebra's Justin Brownlee, Iskati Thompson & coach Tim himself would only be available for Gilas training by Nov. 16. That's 5 days prior to our game versus tormentor New Zealand.
Kung bakit pa kasi ginawang best of 7 series ang semis? The semis should have been a best of 5 series na lang.Originally posted by JAMSKIE View PostI like this finals between TnT & the winner of SMB-Ginebra semis end in 4 to 5 games para naman maka practice agad ang Gilas. I don't care which team wins the Commissioner's Cup title. All I care of is Gilas getting at least 10 days of practice before going to war with New Zealand on Nov. 21.Originally posted by IPC View PostGame 7, if ever, will be on 10 November: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/Zk6xbxgeUBjruKyh/
But I agree, the series should have been best-of-5 to better accommodate Gilas. At least nga, the 6 games a week up to the quarters helped lengthen the break before the window.

This means only JB, Oftana, Scottie, and Japeth will still be playing.

CTC already mentioned this before that he ain't that sold in adding too many players in his roster
just in case someone's goes down along the way.
his talking about familiarity as far as his system are concern.
I've already mentioned this before that guys like
Mason, Maverick or Japeth are the logical choice because of this.
now for argument sake if ever guys like Abando, Heading, Balti or others to be added
they need a substantial amount of time in the sweat shop amongst the Core for obvious reason
personally, I ain't warm on 6'3 BRP, 5'11 & 6'1 Ravena bros and 6'3 MW moving forward.
they've already done their part and we already know their work rate at the FIBA level
IMHO those players are enigma
I dunno maybe the pressure of wearing the 3 Stars and a Sun in their jerseys are
creeping in their inner emotions most of the time that is why they ain't fit in many levels.
another factor also, is the "system".
besides we already had an abundance of players in the 6'0 to 6'5 levels

Let's just pray that both Ginebra & SMB won't make it to the Governor's Cup finals so that Junmar, CJ Perez, Iskati Thompson, Malonzo (hope he's healthy by that time) & Brownlee can join Gilas practice about 10 days before our 1st game in the 2nd window.
