After window 1, we saw how those 24 participating teams in FIBA Asia cup qualifiers and I think some Asian teams needs to catch up more to the real contenders… unlike in Afrobasket, Eurobasket and Americup qualifiers where upsets already common (even top tier teams like USA, Spain, Germany, Argentina and Nigeria suffering losses), Only 1 match that the lower seed won vs the higher seed team (Thailand rank 91 vs Indonesia rank 74), the rest all higher rank teams won…
Tier 1 - Australia (The favorites)
Tier 2 A - Japan, Lebanon, NZL, Philippines (Heavy contenders, potential to beat Australia)
Tier 2 B - China, Korea, Jordan, Iran (Dark horse teams, can beat Upper teams in a good day)
Tier 3 A - Guam, KSA, Kazakhstan, Taiwan, Bahrain, Syria (just one move away to level up into Tier 2 level)
Tier 3 B - Indonesia, Thailand, Qatar, Iraq (Needs improvement, not quite yet)
Tier 4 - Mongolia, Hong Kong, India, UAE (Happy to be there, no chance to win at all cost)

And by the way, You compare Ross to those naturalized players… that means Ross is very good in Asian standards.. Ross is a local player for Guam, In terms of local players in each countries, not including naturalized players, Who among local players can match his talent? The core of Galloway, Wesley, Cruz and Ross are very extreme good in Asian standards… better core than Iran, Jordan and even Korea (just they have better bench crew)… but who cares on weak bench crew if they can play 30 mins or more… CTC and Leo Austria winning games and championships using 8 - 9 man crew… I didn’t hype them, because I know their coaching and system sucks… Too much ISO plays and no direction of plays… BUT as I said, They have the potential to be in conversation… Guam is one good coach away to be elevate themselves as contenders, They gave Japan, NZL and Taipei a very hard competitive game even they are newcomers, How much if they accustomed already in higher FIBA games…
- 7 of them are in their 30's.
"I think you will agree if Tab will handle this Guam team, they will elevate their status as contenders (he led a ragtag and old 2015 Gilas crew into silver medal finish)."
- Again, this thing has not happened yet so I will not say anything about this.
"And by the way, You compare Ross to those naturalized players… that means Ross is very good in Asian standards."
- I see no difference between who is a local and who is a naturalized, for as long as the player plays for that country, he is considered as one of them. Guam is an unincorporated territory of US so the concept of naturalization is non-existent in Guam. Residency does. Again, no matter how good Ross is, it will not guarantee a win for Guam.

- 2002, 2007 and 2009 Philippine teams had better cores, talent-wise, than Guam but did they win anything? Koreans had beaten New Zealand not once, not twice but thrice. Not very talented but skilled. Iran has what Guam has but with better BBIQ than most of Guam's opponents, so what is basically the advantage of Guam to Iran? Thailand loaded its team with 3 Thai-Fors (Lisch, Morgan and Ejesu) but did it change anything against Korea?
"They gave Japan, NZL and Taipei a very hard competitive game even they are newcomers."
- I agree with Taipei but against Japan and New Zealand? Guam lost to Japan and New Zealand by 19 and 21, respectively. What was very hard there? It's not even close.
"I didn't hype them."
- Yeah sure, you are not hyping them, if you say so. Haha
Well, Guam could end up 2-4 next year - good for the best third placers' game. I think that they will be able to qualify in next year's FIBA-Asia Cup and the qualifying windows for the World Cup as they will be up against Chinese-Taipei (which is in a messy situation today) and Thailand.Attack

Is Kai Sotto will be the next Hamed Haddadi of Asian basketball? Stats this window think it’s yes… And he’s what? 21 years old…

Japan just manage to make it a 20 pt lead because they looking at the quotient… but it was very competitive from the start.. And agree it or not, they are just one good coach away to be in Tier 2 level… Talent win games but good system wins championships… Guam is not yet reach their full potential yet, they need a good coach to reach that… Just what happened to Gilas under Chot Reyes.. very powerful line up in our standards but poor coaching that let us in disappointment in the end… That is also Guam’s situation right now
- where should I look then?

- if we follow your logic, a basketball game should not be four quarters then. guam could have defended japan and tried to score against japan since there is a quotient system. but guess what? they didn't because they couldn't.
"And agree it or not, they are just one good coach away to be in Tier 2 level."
- we'll never know until they do. otherwise, this is just an educated hypothesis.
"Guam is not yet reach their full potential yet."
- when is that? when tai wesley reaches 40 two years from now? 7 players of Guam are in their 30's while others are either in their mid or late 20's. where is the potential there?

- Gilas powerful? When? Never heard that. What I know is that Gilas is one of the better teams in Asia, not powerful.
- Guam powerful? When? The team has a small sample size against better teams in Asia. The team has yet to prove anything in Asia.Attack

Philippines moving up 1 spot in latest FIBA rankings, from 38 to 37... still not enough, Need better performance this coming OQT and next year's FIBA Asia cup to make it to the top 25 (or maybe 20) teams in the world..
