Probably JF and Japs will be off this one. If B league sched permits, I dont see Edu skipping this one. While Kai s unknown. So who will be our bigs? Carl is one. Arana is the best the PBA has but he’s only 6’6. If there is no politics, Schonny and Tuffin should be there. There already a lot of ineligible Filfors so I hope they let the few who are eligible play.
Its FIBA sanctioned, b league and kbl boys all good to go unless hurt i guess

That's why we need to fight for Kouame's exemption.

I hope he will have an exemptions because he lived here in the Philippines for many years, and learned basketball in the Philippines and already has many national team caps. Kouame, Balunggay, Philips and Clarkson deserve to be considered local. Let us hope and pray that SBP will reason properly with Fiba. By the way the Asiad gold is a great moral booster for our team and this is just for me a team B that is why its a great win, not to mention winning in China's home soil. Our Team A with Edu and Kai, Dwight, Abando, Tamayo, RJ, Heading, Wright, Parks Jr, etc, will be even stronger. Since this is a fiba tournament , they will be all be available. Hopefully we will have good full time foreign coach if its not Tim Cone. Dream tandem of coaching for me is CTC and Coach Tab.

Yeah, we've seen how the B-league took a 2-week break to give way to the window qualifiers of the Asia Cup & World Cup. I have a feeling PBA will also do the same now that its the SMC empire that is in charge of Gilas.

These could be our players for Gilas in the February 1st window Asia Cup qualifiers:

              From B-league:
              Kai Sotto
              AJ Edu,
              Carl Tamayo
              Dwight Ramos
              Jordan Heading
              Kiefer Ravena

              From the PBA:
              Junmar Fajardo
              Jamie Malonzo
              Justin Brownlee
              Calvin Oftana
              CJ Perez
Chris Newsome (with the way he played in the gold medal game vs. Jordan, I think Newsome is a good prospect)
              Iskati Thompson
Schonny Winston (I want to test the mettle of this 6-foot-1 good scoring point guard)
              Aaron Black

              From KBL:
              Rhenz Abando

Don't forget Will Navarro. He'll have recovered from his ACL tear by February.

RJ Abarrientos too. He's now in Japan.

Now we got an abundance of talent at the small forward position. And those are good size small forwards by Asian basketball standards.

                    Bigs:
Kai Sotto, AJ Edu, Junmar, Carl Tamayo, Mason Amos, Jamie Malonzo ( I believe Malonzo is more of a 4 than a small forward).

                    Small Forwards:
Dwight Ramos, Calvin Oftana, Will Navarro,

                    Shooting Guards/2-Guards:
CJ Perez, Chris Newsome, Rhenz Abando, Jordan Heading

                    Point Guards:
Iskati Thompson, Kiefer Ravena, Schonny Winston

                    Naturalized player: Justin Brownlee

Also worth consideration in the pool would be Justin Baltazar (if only there's no politics), Francis Lopez, RJ Abbarientos, Ken Tuffin, Aaron Black.
I think we should call up the entire pool for the WC and Asian Games (except for Ross, Mo, and Perkins, who are ineligible, Japeth, who's retired, and Pogoy, who's under medical observation). Recalling Schonny (who was part of a window pool) Lopez, Carl, RJ, Juan GDL, Bolick, Mason, and Navarro too would be nice, as they have been part of window pools in the past.

Agreed. We can afford to send a majority-amateur team this window, if indeed if it is Hong Kong and Taipei, backstopped by a few FIBA veterans (at least 10 FIBA games) for the Taipei game.

                      • Based on what was said/implied by Chua during the press con its looking like the PBA wont be so accomodating to Gilas for the Feb window next year. Maybe Im wrong but I think a roster composed of pinoy imports/non pba players is more talented overall as compared to a pure PBA line up.

Quality players in that range too in Carl, Navarro, Heading, and RJ (who should be in future lineups, or at the very least in consideration). They can be long-term players. Hopefully, we get some younger prospects in the February 2025 window, and minimize older players (specifically in the 1989 and earlier age range; ideally only 1-2 players from that age range) unless we absolutely need them.

Honestly, it's best to combine the strongest from the PBA with the strongest non-PBA players. But still, the non-PBA players are better youth-wise, and they're surely more available.

In case Heading will not yet fully recovered, I will add Justin Gutang as alternate for non- PBA selection in your line-up.. Enlisting Jong Uichico to handle the team if SBP can’t still find a viable coach. Uichico is quite familiar with most of the players whilst serving as assistant to coaches Tab, Chot and Tim…. First window will be on February and I think above- mentioned players will be available as their respective leagues B.league, KBL and NM1 (French league) are oblige to release their players for NT duties…

Then in July Olympic qualifying tournament if PBA players are not still available we can send the same intact crew…

                              • With impending suspension of Justin Brownlee, who would be our naturalized player in the 1st window in February 2024? Would Kouame be available?

I think if Kouame won't be available, we could tap Standhardinger as our NP in February. Yes I know Standhardinger has already retired from national team service after the 2023 SEA Games but I think if Long Hair ask him to heed another call of national team duty, most likely Standhardinger is not going to turn down Long Hair's request.
