The first tourney is Nov 2023 right? Our group has CT, HK and NZ.
Probably JF and Japs will be off this one. If B league sched permits, I dont see Edu skipping this one. While Kai s unknown. So who will be our bigs? Carl is one. Arana is the best the PBA has but he’s only 6’6. If there is no politics, Schonny and Tuffin should be there. There already a lot of ineligible Filfors so I hope they let the few who are eligible play.

These could be our players for Gilas in the February 1st window Asia Cup qualifiers:
From B-league:
Kai Sotto
AJ Edu,
Carl Tamayo
Dwight Ramos
Jordan Heading
Kiefer Ravena
From the PBA:
Junmar Fajardo
Jamie Malonzo
Justin Brownlee
Calvin Oftana
CJ Perez
Chris Newsome (with the way he played in the gold medal game vs. Jordan, I think Newsome is a good prospect)
Iskati Thompson
Schonny Winston (I want to test the mettle of this 6-foot-1 good scoring point guard)
Aaron Black
From KBL:
Rhenz Abando"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Bigs:
Kai Sotto, AJ Edu, Junmar, Carl Tamayo, Mason Amos, Jamie Malonzo ( I believe Malonzo is more of a 4 than a small forward).
Small Forwards:
Dwight Ramos, Calvin Oftana, Will Navarro,
Shooting Guards/2-Guards:
CJ Perez, Chris Newsome, Rhenz Abando, Jordan Heading
Point Guards:
Iskati Thompson, Kiefer Ravena, Schonny Winston
Naturalized player: Justin Brownlee
Also worth consideration in the pool would be Justin Baltazar (if only there's no politics), Francis Lopez, RJ Abbarientos, Ken Tuffin, Aaron Black.

Based on what was said/implied by Chua during the press con its looking like the PBA wont be so accomodating to Gilas for the Feb window next year. Maybe Im wrong but I think a roster composed of pinoy imports/non pba players is more talented overall as compared to a pure PBA line up.
GUARDS:
RJ Abbarientos
Robert Bolick
Jordan Heading
Matthew Wright
Rhenz Abando
FORWARDS:
Dwight Ramos
Ray Parks Jr.
Dave IIdefonso
Carl Tamayo
Justin Baltazar
CENTERS:
Kai Sotto
AJ Edu
Angelo Kouame (NP)
VS
GUARDS:
Scottie Thompson
Terrence Romeo
CJ Perez
Chris Newsome
RR Pogoy
FORWARDS
Justin Brownlee (NP)
Jaime Malonzo
Calvin Oftana
William Navarro
Kenneth Tuffin
CENTERS:
Junemar Fajardo
Justin Arana

Quality players in that range too in Carl, Navarro, Heading, and RJ (who should be in future lineups, or at the very least in consideration). They can be long-term players. Hopefully, we get some younger prospects in the February 2025 window, and minimize older players (specifically in the 1989 and earlier age range; ideally only 1-2 players from that age range) unless we absolutely need them. You do not have permission to view this gallery.

Then in July Olympic qualifying tournament if PBA players are not still available we can send the same intact crew…Last edited by FilWelsh; 10-13-2023, 01:08 PM.

With impending suspension of Justin Brownlee, who would be our naturalized player in the 1st window in February 2024? Would Kouame be available?
I think if Kouame won't be available, we could tap Standhardinger as our NP in February. Yes I know Standhardinger has already retired from national team service after the 2023 SEA Games but I think if Long Hair ask him to heed another call of national team duty, most likely Standhardinger is not going to turn down Long Hair's request."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game.
