China will beat japan if they gone 2 big but Chinese needs to improve their speed game especially in world level.. they can get away byu being slow and tall in asia and in the world in early 90's but wouldnt cut it anymire

I think you didn’t notice that Guam’s bigs are tough, physical and grind out bigs, something that Chinese bigs are not for… They are bangers down low, I’m sure guys like Tai Wesley, Galloway and even Ross will make those Chinese bigs fool inside… Guam could have a chance against Japan if they adjust when Japan made a run late in the 3rd… This is what Guam is not address until now, their coaching staff could be the weakest among all 24 participating teams.. None of them have experience coaching even at professional level… they still not figure out until now to level up and make themselves into a real contender… I hope in November, they need to hire very experience international coach to assist coach Calvo, his team have talent that can match up every real Asian teams, but his coaching sucks big time, worst than IBN favorite Chot Reyes…

I didn’t say they are already in Par with those strong teams in Asia… but they have the tools to be in that conversation… As I said, all they need is to change their system, their coaching sucks… individually, their talents are on par already w/ Asia’s best.. Who do you think we can compare Earnest Ross in Asia in terms of scoring Wing? He can even score against Japan and NZL and produce points whoever is guarding him… Galloway is a elite Asian big man, even Kai Sotto will have hard time against Galloway.. Wesley is already past on his prime, But his experience is still there and his moves are hard to stop… Takumi Simon also making his name in Japan B league too.. we also don’t forget Jericho Cruz… Individually, they have the talent.. what they need is a true coach that can elevate their team into real contender, This team needs to play as a team oriented basketball.. but they need a coach to set up that.. coach Calvo has no idea how to make this team a contender… Bring Tab Baldwin in this Guam team, they can easily among in the top 8 teams…

Chinese bigs are soft as Marshmallow…

You have to check what I post, I did say just have chance to upset China is possible, But nothing has assurances here… If Guam can hang on vs China until 4th, Chances of upset is high for them to beat China.. It’s like we are also saying that we have a chance upsetting teams in OQT in July… it’s not exaggerating bro.. So we can say that for Gilas against European teams that we will face in OQT? This is just observation, And another thing, Guam is not your typical team that we compare to say like Mongolia, Kazakhstan or Bahrain.. of all of the 3rd tier teams in Asia, Guam is the strongest chance to upset teams from 1st and 2nd tiers such as China, Iran or even Gilas, if they looking past on them… This is what new FIBA format stands for.. You even post before that you like the current set up of format unlike in the past.. So this is the reason why FIBA change the format, to give opportunities to the other teams such as Guam, Saudi, Bahrain, etc… to gain experience and to reach the level of those contenders in Asian basketball… Imagine if they have a coach someone like Tab Baldwin will coach this Guam team? I’m assured they can upset teams on Asia cup and surprise everybody… I just no trust on their current coach, Their line up is strong, but poor coaching staff..

That’s why a wing scorer NP is better fit for China than guard NP… they need to speed their game w/o sacrificing height and can score too… A JB like NP suits better in China than getting Powell like NP for them…Their guards are still good TBH… Just need a wing scorer than can do it all for them…

i think it was even pre-civil war, its due to the plantation way of life in the southern states where slaves only had access to certain foods - chickens, collared greens and watermelon the most notable ones, thus the association. heck i was in memphis once and people still cringe when one mentions grape juice.

- There are lots of naturalized wingmen that had played in FIBA-Asia. Jarvis Hayes, Jay Youngblood, Demario Mayfield, Alex Legion, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and the list goes on. Even Tyler Lamb is a good scoring wing. However, did that translate to winning?

- There are surplus of guards in FIBA-Asia that are better than them. There is a reason why Jericho Cruz was not called-up by SBP, except in the SEA Games. There is also a reason why Takumi Simon is playing for Guam, instead Japan NT.

- That's still an if. I will wait until November and see for myself.

- I don't expect too much with Gilas in their OQT campaign. Latvia is the hottest team in Europe right now while Georgia is still a pretty solid team. Even if, somehow, Gilas is able to pass the group stage, they will be up against Brazil and Montenegro. Gilas's pathway to Olympics is pretty tough with Latvia, Georgia, Brazil and Montenegro as our groupmates.

- Yeah, yeah, the same thing we said on Palestine and India almost a decade ago. Where is Palestine again in the Asian-level competition today? Don't act as if Guam players are the only tough players in the region. There are plenty of tough teams in Asia.

Guam has yet prove anything at this point.

Maybe, within the next cycle.
