That's the problem when a country couldn't produce a handful of big-men with freakish athleticism above 6'9 locally. Mix of genetics and overreliance on foreign born players.Originally posted by GoPilipinas View PostJapeth inclusion doesn't make sense and a waste of spot, They said they thinking long term but they added an old guy...
Japeth and Edu game is bit similar cone maybe wants japeth to simulate edu game but japeth is old now younger players will help us long term.
Baltazar should be the one need to be called up but we know theirs a gap between his handles fine but atleast get a younger bigs.Originally posted by Giannis34GOD View PostMaybe Japeth is just a practice player.. I’m ok with that if he will be a practice player…Originally posted by Sikatrix View PostMaybe, I see Ralph Cu there and no way Ralph Cu isnt a practice player.
But a roster spot in this window, I dunno. I think a better choice would have been a younger big. Arana, Mason, Pablo, Gagate, Demisana.

the question is how many years did those Foreign guys reside in Qatar to be a local? Qatar will be dangerous team again in the future since they already exploit the loophole of FIBA eligibility rules… Qatar sacrifice from 2017 - 2023 to follow the residency requirements of FIBA and here we are again… meanwhile Saudis struggling from their new coach Nestor Garcia’s system so far.. but since Saudis already qualified for FIBA asia cup being the host, they can manage to lose games and learn from coach Garcia’s system until next year, their target says a semis stint… Let’s see if they will get their goal in tough Asia cup competition…

No disrespect to HK and TPE, but I also don't mind Japeth on the squad...it's just that what are the odds of having more than 2 new players every time given how the program is convinced to keep these 12 players together until 2027 and the next competition is against world class teams?
As lauaghable as Chot's 23 for 23 was, Edu should be one of those untouchable players when healthy along with Dwight, Kai, Malonzo, KQ, Tamayo, and maybe Oftana. The others will be four years older and slower so unless Jayson David develops into the next Bal David, Barefield lands on SMC's lap and magically gets a FIBA exception, Laput outplays JMF consistently when Magnolia plays SMB, and SMC have enough money to pay Clarkson or even a Jalen Green every off season... there won't be any changes.

CTC should’ve tap Tolentino and Ahamnisi rather than those two scrubs… atleast these two are reliable replacements in case some of his current members will not available…
CTC is stubborn when it comes to his system, who's here old enough to remember when his so called strong team gets beaten by US NCAA Div 1 teams, the shock on him and the fans were amusing. His system is above everybody else,if he gets the right player for his system then alls well that ends well.

Yes, that jersey no.2 (I don’t know who he is) could be their NP, the rest are locals under exemption rule… there are Senegalese, Bosnian, Congolese, etc… I don’t see native Qataris there… check their pool here..

About the players of Qatar, the Bosnian-descent players like Nedim Muslic, Mejo Haracic, Faris Advic have been playing for the Qatar national team in the last 4 years or so. These players are actually in their mid-20's now which means they are almost in their primes now, yet they have not really made strong enough impact to elevate Qatar to a lofty placing in Asian basketball in the last few years. And it doesn't look like Qatar basketball will be back to its lofty placings in Asian basketball in the next 2 to 3 years with those players in tow.
Now Qatar has a No. Of teenage players in its current pool & they are black players. Those players are actually the key players of Qatar's U-18 youth team in 2022. These players look promising but I don't think they are going to make an immediate impact to really elevate the team any higher anytime soon.Last edited by JAMSKIE; 02-16-2024, 10:46 PM."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Qatar's best local player is 6-foot-2 shooting guard Abdulrahman Saad who is of Egyptian descent. But Saad hasn't played for the Qatar national team in the last 3 years or so."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game.
