Brownlee, Malonzo, Oftana and Ramos… those 4 can play 2-4 spots too, and for sure Brownlee will get the most minutes here ( probably 35 - 38 minutes), then you have Malonzo and Oftana, both already know CTC’s system, they will get more minutes than KQ and CT… Then there’s Ramos.. I don’t think that Ramos will have lesser minutes.. Ramos will be the 2nd best scorer here, so he will get heavy minutes… so Tamayo and Quiambao needs to be patience here… they will be the ones that will get lesser playing time, especially they are both new to CTC’s system…
With the so called injury of Kai and really injured AJ,CTC will want more players that's already in the system, playing time for those overseas boys are limited,I just can't imagine CTC giving minutes to the Bleague boys who are not immersed in his system,CTC always will coach in his comfort zone.

    • SoKor have released their 12 for this window. Like us, they're gonna use 12. Unlike us, their 12 are surely intact, I think.

SEOUL (Korea) - The Korea Basketball Association (KBA) have announced a 12-player roster for the upcoming games in Window 1 of the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers.

      Guards: Oh Jae-Hyun (1999; 186cm) Park Mubin (2001, 186cm), Choi Jun-Yong (1994; 200cm), Lee Jung-Hyun (1999; 189cm), Byeon Jun-Hyeong (1996; 186cm)
      Wings: Han Hee-Won (1993; 196cm), Lee Woo-Suk (1999; 196cm), Song Kyo-Chang (1996; 200cm)
      Bigs: Ricardo Ratliffe (1989; 198cm), Ha Yungi (1999; 203cm), Kang Sang-Jae (1994; 200cm) Kim Jong-Kyu (1991; 207cm)

Average age of 27.25. Slightly younger than our lineup. They have 5 players born 1999 and earlier, as well as holdovers.

But I think this is a revamped South Korea national team with a No. of veteran national players no longer in this current line up. The only veteran national team local player I can is 6-foot-9 center Kim Jong-Kyu.

I think the core of the team in the last 3 years is already gone.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

This is will be the last Korean stint of Ratliffe, As they will not re-sign him after contract expires on May... They are now finding new replacements for him, One of those candidates is Jonathan Williams (former import of Phoenix)...

Yeah... and with have that success of last Asian games... But i think Ramos, Kai and AJ will have a role under CTC, especially DR, I don't see him being benched with that kind of talent... He will be the 2nd best player for Gilas after Brownlee...

He already said he is open for some additions, but this is his core 12… yung minumungkahi mo na beyond 2027 eh saka mo na atupagin yun.. focus on now… Kung di mo parin gets then apply Gilas head coaching job… Baka sakali magkamedal na tayo sa World Cup at Olympics… I just explain and being nice then be patient… it take some time…
It's pointless arguing with a biased and dumb idiot like you who doesn't even read what I just posted, doesn't understand context as to why people think it's a bad decision, and isn't open to the possibility of the right people making the wrong decisions.

It's still 2024, World Cup Qualifying starts late 2025, kung maka-abot ang Gilas sa second round na hindi na dapat sila maka-chamba kasi walang Korea o hindi na tayo ang hosts... it'll be late 2026 and less than a year til the World Cup in 2027. There's A LOT of time for players to develop and players to regress. If you're telling me you want a 38-year old JB to bail us out in must-win qualifiers or a 36-year old JMF to play in the post... just because they're the core of the team... go back to facebook comments.

I didn't say JB will be naturalized until 2027, I also suggest Bennie Boathwright (check previous post)... Just chill bro... This is just the start of CTC era... Just check spin post, CTC wants SMB import to be his next NP... Another thing, CTC wants his tenure like Iran or Argentina approach (check Del Rosario's interview).. The core 12 will be together for 4 years... Whether he want to have reserves, Time will tell... he wants those 12 players to jell together for a longer period of time... You know CTC, he always value chemistry..

                • NZL line up for 1st window qualifiers...

                  Taylor Britt
                  Walter Brown
                  Tobias Cameron
                  Max Darling
                  Dan Fotu
                  Julius Halaifonua
                  Tyrell Harrison
                  Izayah Le’afa
                  Alex McNaught
                  Jordan Ngatai
                  Dion Prewster
                  Ethan Rusbatch
                  Tom Vodanovich (Former Converge import)
                  Sam Timmins

We have to scout this team, So that we can study how this team that Gilas will face in November... If Lebanon able to beat this and Jordan almost beat this team, I think Gilas will beat this team too...

Sydney's Sam Timmins has been named in the Tall Blacks' 14-man squad to contest the upcoming FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers.

Since he's given carte blache in Gilas for the next 4 years,he will be given a pass for not too sucessful campaign this year,he needs time to immerse the Bleague,KBLand Eruoleague guy in the system I have a feeling it will be a full 24 guys will be in the system by the 2nd year,if one or two goes down easily can be inserted.Given the amount of time to train nowadays of 2-3 weeks per non major tournament its better for someone in the system,to just pack his bags and play right away. The only downside I can see are the opponents scouting them for the same play over and over again,I can see this happening for the first 2 years, until everyone is immersed then he can tweak it here and there by the 3rd year and beyond.

thank God, still not a long term solution for NP though

Which means Junemar and Sotto will be our bigs.

Against Taiwan and HK, it’s okay but we need Edu for the OQT and against NZ.

I don’t trust Junemar and Kai to handle those Euro and Kiwi bigs.

What’s the update on Malonzo? Will he be ready in time for the qualifiers?

Brownlee won't be our NP for long, but apart from AJ and Ange, he's the only other who can credibly anchor our defense.

AJ can't be our only defensive anchor due to his health. June Mar and Kai are defensive liabilities right now. Erika should be working on an exemption for Mike Phillips and even Ange. sroth3839 brought up BGR too, we'll need his energy on defense. Because, that's the only way that we can credibly field a lineup with an NP that can't anchor our defense.

PBA / SBP will not working for next set of exemption for ineligibles because you know what's next (selfish PBA reasons)!!! Unless they will promise that they will be loyal to the PBA

Exemption is not worth it. The exemptions are granted when the guys are past 30. It makes sense for Fiba not to grant them while the players are young as they will be swamped with exemption requests. Now they are working on Boatright’s naturalization but so far the guy is more of a shooter than an impactful defender.

Lets see if JMF or Kai improve on their defense. Otherwise they have to rethink their NP plans.
