I think that's a lateral move. Heading over Perez for me, provides different things. Shooting and an extra lead guard. And Navarro should also be in our long-term plans.

Perez provides us with another ballhandler though he can be tunnel visioned sometimes. Lopez doesn't really have a good handle though he probably is the better rebounder and shot blocker. 2 different types of player really but I don't think he'll get any minutes playing behind the other guys.

They're different players but the strength of both Perez and Lopez is athleticism, motor and slashing. Also, with limited ballhandlers, replacing Perez with Lopez exacerbates the problem.

Heading brings a different dimension while also is a decent ballhandler, while Navarro (if healthy) is one of our lengthiest 3-and-D.

Many fans are feeling this renewed confidence under Cone… many are very satisfied when he led Gilas to a gold medal finished last asian games… and this line up is more stronger than the gold medal squad last asian games… look at the all social media pages, they are all excited in this new era under coach Tim cone…

The PBA All-Filipino Conference (which is still on now because of the PBA only having 2 conferences).

So what happens in 2027? Another special season where the PBA shortens the league again? Do we go full-1998/2010 and have Gilas play as a guest team in the Commissioners Cup? Speaking of which, what happens in 2026 when the Asian Games takes place betwen mid-September and early October? Whatever it is, the schedule has to revolve around those three months being dedicated to a major tournament whether it's FIBA Asia Cup (2025), the World Cup, (2027) or the Olympics (2028).

Even that doesn't solve everything because of year-round qualifying windows in Feb, July for the OQT, Nov, Jun of the following year, (btw, insert the SEA Games in Dec where KQ will be playing in the UAAP instead of this) and if they make it to the 2nd round of World Cup Qualifying, it runs smack through the Commissioners Cup in Sept, late Nov to early Dec, (cross fingers KQ is already in Japan and doesn't prolong his UAAP stay) and Feb again in two years, which will only mess up one week of that year's Governor's Cup.

It's only the B-League players that will be available all throughout with their FIBA clause... so if you're looking at a core, for now that's Sotto, Edu, Ramos, KQ, and Tamayo if he found another team in Japan. All the PBA players have to adjust playing a different FIBA game, and so will CTC, who I NEVER doubted... which brings me to the elephant in the room: a soon-to-be 39-year old Justin Brownlee. Take Brownlee out of CTC's Asian Games team, Cone looks like just another Chot. They don't beat China if JB didn't decide to go 1 on 5 and explode.

I understand the group will just be together for those two games against Taiwan and Hong Kong... but moving forward, they have to consider the possibilty of losing players to injury or the off-chance that someone in the PBA or the other leagues plays so well to earn a chance of a call-up to a window or even a tournament just like how KQ did in Dubai. Let the SBP decide when to use Kouame, JC, or even naturalize another player. If they somehow pull this off, I can even see the team going as high as 3rd in Asia. If the PBA f***s it up for Gilas, I don't even see us advancing in the 2nd round of World Cup Qualifying and you can forget 2027.
Just trust Tim cone bro… are you not satisfied when he led Gilas last asian games? And don’t think about beyond 2027, that is very far away.. just think about the current program.. we will come to that situation in the future but let’s think about this current program under coach Tim… he is way better than all of us here.. he knows what he is doing for our team..

TANGINA marunong ka ba mag-English? Kaya pala galit mga tao sa'yo dito. You have the comprehension of an 8-year old and blabber whatever you can copy from us as if you pretend to understand but don't.

Also, I never said anything AFTER 2027 other than targets because it's only the Olympics which is another topic for another lifetime. You're lucky I got time to reply to your bullshit because most of it is worth ignoring and I wonder wtf you do in Saudi other than bum around on your device.

I already implied that I trust Tim Cone because I don't doubt him. ALAM MO BA KUNG ANO ANG "I NEVER DOUBTED" SA TAGALOG? For your dumb ass, I'll translate it for you: it's HINDI KO PINAGDUDAHAN. I was merely stating the fact that Tim Cone didn't win the Asian Games alone and needed Brownlee's heroics. Did you even watch the Asian Games? Or are you one of those sick freaks who deduces everything from 2-minute highlights? Have you ever played organized basketball? Defintiely not. In plain fucking Tagalog, kaya mo bang aminin na hindi CHAMBA yung ginawa ni Brownlee sa China kasi play talaga ni Cone na mag-bakaw si Brownlee? Gilas won't have that version of Brownlee when he turns 39 in 2027 unless tumitikol ka ng Ginebra and want him to continue playing as long as Jaworksi. But for these two games in Feb 2024? Sige lang. He gets to be Noypi JB.

Perez is a natural 2-guard with good enough handles to play some point guard role. Francis Lopez on the other hand has suspect handles to play as a natural wing or should I say small forward. But at least Lopez is only 20 years old, hence he has plenty of room for improvement. I think Lopez needs to undergo special skills training that would focus on his ball handling, outside shooting & defense. Its absolutely not too late to improve the flaws of his game, but Lopez has to work hard on it. Jamie Malonzo is able to improve his outside shooting even when he was on his mid-20's.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Bro… if you want then change coach Tim and make your own decision… Mas magaling ka pala sa kanya eh? The reason why Gilas will not succeed because of those toxic fans like you… Pag ayaw mo eh kung ano ano sinasabi mo… Mag apply ka sa SBP at palitan mo si coach Tim… Isa Karin pala G*go eh… Paladesisyon amputs… kayo ang hihina ng utak nyo… always complaining w/o any substance… Did you watch coach Tim’s reason why he just picked 12? He already said he is open for some additions, but this is his core 12… yung minumungkahi mo na beyond 2027 eh saka mo na atupagin yun.. focus on now… Kung di mo parin gets then apply Gilas head coaching job… Baka sakali magkamedal na tayo sa World Cup at Olympics… I just explain and being nice then be patient… it take some time…

                        • “Ironically, I was just talking to Kevin a couple of hours ago on the phone cause he had just gotten back from Dubai and his tournament there. I was telling him that right now you are the young guys on the team and that was what we wanted. We wanted vets and youth,” Cone shared in an interview on One News’ The Big Story.

“I'm a big believer that you don't get better unless you have younger players who could grow and get better as a team, however, if you want to win now, if you want to win right away, you need veterans, so that's kind of the combination that we've tried to put together,” he emphasized.

For Cone, it’s clear that the development of Quiambao and the other young guys in Gilas such as Kai Sotto, AJ Edu, and Carl Tamayo will be key to Gilas’ success in the years to come.

“I was telling Kevin, you're the young guy right now, but in four years, you aren't gonna be the young guy anymore, so he's gonna be four years older, four years smarter,” said Cone.

“He's gonna be playing international ball for four years along with wherever he goes, whether it be the PBA or Japan or who knows maybe the New York Knicks. He will grow through those four years and that's the idea of getting a young player like that,” he added.

Of course, the winningest coach in the PBA also spoke fondly of Quiambao and what he could bring to the table for Gilas.

“This kid is versatile. He asked me on the phone, am I gonna play three or four, coach? I said, 'Kevin, you're gonna play one, two, three, or four, wherever we need you because you have that versatility in your game and we can use you wherever we need you to be,” said Cone.

Since you're a big CTC fan, then you do remember in that WC,CTC took Kai on the side and very calmly dressed him down.CTC doesn't like anyone thinking out of the box and his system and that's why he said he doesn't play all the players,he will stick to 7-8 players and that would be the Ginebra and other PBA players who's familiar with his sysem. He also said he doesn't even do in game adjustments. He take players that what fans want to pacify the fans but doesn't mean they get the minutes of playing time.So if you're a Bleague and KBL boys and can't get that system down in a very short time, would you like hugging the bench?

Last asian games, he just used 8 or 9 players, and I don’t think Kai, Edu and Junmar will be bench, since he is a big man coach, although depending on the match ups… Edu will be our no.1 big man while Junmar and Kai will have to share minutes, and also depending on match ups, Kai will be likely use against African and Middle East teams while Junmar will be used against Latinos and East Asian teams… I’m afraid with Quiambao and Tamayo here… because I think those two might get little to no playing time at all… think about who are the players picked that are same as their positions.. Brownlee, Malonzo, Oftana and Ramos… those 4 can play 2-4 spots too, and for sure Brownlee will get the most minutes here ( probably 35 - 38 minutes), then you have Malonzo and Oftana, both already know CTC’s system, they will get more minutes than KQ and CT… Then there’s Ramos.. I don’t think that Ramos will have lesser minutes.. Ramos will be the 2nd best scorer here, so he will get heavy minutes… so Tamayo and Quiambao needs to be patience here… they will be the ones that will get lesser playing time, especially they are both new to CTC’s system…
