I posted here before I understand his grandpa is a distinguished UP College of Medicine alumnus. At young age his lolo may have seen his apo’s potential and applied dual citizenship for young Quentin. Former IBP president and late Pangasinan governor Vicente Millora is a relative of his lolo. At very young age he may have Philippine passport but it may have expired and never stamped as Quentin may never used his Philippine passport when he spent his holidays in Philippines. Having a Western passport is more convenient when going to immigration counters in NAIA. As Philippine passport holders have to traverse usually long queues.

I have 2 passports myself, I usually presented my non-Filipino passport whenever I go to Philippines. I secured it almost 10 years ago after my re-acquisition of Filipino citizenship. Almost every year I have vacation to home-country but each time I don’t bothered to have it stamped. Maybe QMB’s parents were doing the same…

As Coach tab put it (Fiba does not recognize getting passport under 16 alone). You still have to establish your connection with the country he wishes to represent. The link must be in terms of the basketball culture they shared with one another.

      • I’m not sure about that statement by CTB, and I’m pretty certain that Harris, Konov, and many Fil-foreign players didn’t establish their connection to the Philippines before they got their passports before the age of 16 and played for the Gilas youth team. Caelum only went to the Philippines right after he got his passport, so there was no connection to the Philippines prior to that, except for his passport and Filipino lineage. The same can be said for Alex Konov because, honestly, he is more Bulgarian than Filipino, and the same applies to Mahmood, Jones, etc.

I will only believe it when there’s a scenario where a Fil-foreign player got their under-16 passport but was unable to play because of the connection issue.

Yes. And they got Taiwan, which is on a roll, as its 1st assignment tomorrow. https://www.fiba.basketball/en/event...alifiers/games
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

But how is this satisfied in real world. I mean what did Harris did to get the nod. He did play for 2 years in Qatar before getting his eligibility but those are just maximum of 4 months in a year. He played with other leagues during those times

Guam and Thailand will miss their big man, as Martin Bruenig and Jonathan Galloway was not allowed by their mother teams in Macedonia and Germany to participate this final qualifiers... Taiwan will be absolutely favorites to be on top while Guam vs Thailand will be a fair match, Lish vs Ross will be match up for the final time, both are top scorers in Asian basketball today... While Jakrawan and Ejesu will have to stop Tai Wesley down low.. Tai Wesley schooled Chinese bigs last time such as Yang Hansen and Hu Jinqui...

                    • Even if Guam has Jonathan Galloway and Curtis Washington playing, Taipei will still win it. The team is determined to get back into respectability.

Try Bein Sports since you’re in Saudi.
