I already give up on dreaming Gilas will win any medal there...
Getting at least a podium finish still matters because our Asia Cup standing will affect our rankings.

Why do you think we dropped from 27th to 41st? Those 7th and 9th place finishes in 2017 & 2022 under Choke did a number on us.

The pot allocation for the WCQ is based on our ranking.

    • I’m open to replacing Scottie, but is there anyone who can defend quite like him? It would be worth reviewing the replays to appreciate the intangibles he brings to the game. We’ve seen how undersized point guards struggle against the taller, stronger, and more athletic guards from New Zealand, Australia, and the Middle East. While RJ is effective against South Korea, Japan, and Chinese Taipei, the tougher competition now comes from the Middle East, as well as NZ and AU.

I could consider Bolick, but he needs to step up his defense. The best options would be Parks, Heading, and Wright—they’re tall, athletic, capable of bringing the ball down, solid defenders, and efficient three-point shooters with experience in FIBA’s playstyle. Stockton and Wilson are also worth considering, but they need to be integrated and tested in international games as soon as possible.

      • The triangle doesnt realky require a purist pg so i will return back dweet as seconday pg to improve his decision making..i would rather have an empty possesion with ball moving than a one man dribble move that dweet and kiefer doing..it doesnt really tire defense..
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
        1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

You have to consider your personnel. Did they do the triangle when Newsome led to a comeback? From the highlights I don't think so. It seems to me without Kai or Fajardo, Tim's triangle is not effective on this level. I think they need to work with their talent. If guys like Edu are effective in a PNR setting then they have to adapt.

          • They arent really running full triangle even in ginebra but since tim.philosophy is really team.based you need to k ow when to go away with triangle and when isnt.. new zealand caught red handed when otber guys attacked their players..again despite how hot new zealand and taiwan are sholting tbeir threes tbey still score on 90s level only..sukat

Tim Cone needs to get out of his triangle for the meantime if he wants to win more. His team won a grandslam in 2014 with him deviating from triangle at times.

So the addition if theres any will depend on who can contribute more on offense or unluckily how will iskati adjust and make his shots..

In oqt, wala si iskati.. tim cone era started after 2022 asia cup when he is already shadowing chot and brownlee staryed to became our sub naturalize player..( the players where already evaluated that time) hence the team was already assembled..

So watch out on the cuts ( parks, abando ravenas, kouame if they will plug on in this gilas team).. wait heading played with tim in one of window..

It would be surprising if tim will get guys outside of that players(sj,qmb)

There were you know, a lot of clamour since at least last year to add more players to the pool a lot just ignored that and continue to hope for the best.

Are we expecting things to be far different than what we have shown in the invitationals and qualifiers in just 10 days? They have all the power and freedom to assemble a great team why limit and handicap ourselves?

He has a good senior coach in his corner, let Jong design an option B both on offense and defense,it will probably knock the socks of their opponents and keep them off balance.

He also has DDO Jr if he wants 5-out.

                        • So we ended our 2025 FIBA Asia Cup window qualifier campaign on a losing mode. A very frustrating losing mode...

...Then we console ourselves by saying, "Those loses are non-bearing games since we are already qualified anyway"
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

My pitchforks and torches are all out and ready from Austin, Tx. In case they fuck up in the Asia Cup.

No excuses. If we don’t do significantly better than 9th place, the SBP and CTC should be held accountable.

Yeah. No need to rest the starters especially Brownlee since those games don't matter.

                              • I really do hope that the Dubai and 3rd Window losses will be a blessing in disguise on this latest version of Gilas led by CTC.

I am very very happy that it happens now rather than in August that is very very painful.

I already mentioned this before with Kai and a healthy AJ with the imminent entry of QMB

our Gilas may somehow had a shot for the crown against the AUS's usual team B.

but with the current situation, reaching the medal round is already an accomplishment

unless SBP surprise us that aside from QMB they are also quietly facilitating AK34's exemption as well.

then let's flip up again the narrative of challenging AUS team B in the Gold medal match.

who knows maybe Grandpa Al P. are really in a super duper good mood by quietly facilitating with

USA Basketball for a possible transfer of Federation on 4-star prospect JJ Mandaquit and 5-star prospect Dylan Harper

                                in the Senior Level.

Happy Hormones to all of us.
