Newsome is also the go to guy at Meralco so he has the guts to take shot, their first option. .While Skati is a glorified role player.Not really your first option in offense who strength is rebounding... Gilas will be lucky entering top 8 this August... My concern will be the 1st window of world cup qualifiers in November, if Kai can't play there, there are possibility we will start 0-2 before Kai can play in February 2026 window... Our target is the world cup to qualify for the Olympics.. East region are tough group.. We will play against either Australia, NZL, Japan, China, and Taiwan (we will not face Korea since both will be in same POT in draw lots).. We will be lucky if we have a schedule in November against Thailand/Guam, we can handle either 1 of them... But I have doubts to the rest.. Best scenario will be Japan, China, Philippines, Guam/Thailand.... Worst case scenario Australia, NZL, Philippines and Taiwan... I hope the former will be our group mates in world cup qualifiers...Comment

It's okay to have the Australia, NZL in the 1st round, since even we won't draw them at 1st round, we will surely meet either of them in the 2nd round which is the crucial part. This is a 4-year program that will culminate in 2027 or perhaps 2028. Cohesion, chemistry & assimilation to coach Tim Cone's system & scheme of things will be achieved thru accumulation of practices/scrimmages, playing tune-up games & playing in window qualifiers & other tournaments in that 4 year cycle. Without Kai, our chances are slim to none.. then better to use Asia cup to add some players to familiarize the system... The real battle is the world cup qualifiers in November...
