No Ravena brothers and Pogoy please!
The frontline of Kai, AJ, Ange and Carl give me an erection. LOL. Kidding aside, the 4 plus Balti were supposed to be the core frontline for the 2023 WC team.

This was established back when the Kai-AJ-Carl were still playing in the youth teams. It was reinforced and further solidify back in 2021 with the addition of Balti and Ange.

This frontline coulda shoulda reached maturity and ready to be used in the 2023 WC.

I think one of the things the SBP could/SHOULD actually do is convince the 26 year old Sedrick Barefield to enter the draft next year and work on his exemption in time for the next World Cup. And not only Barefield but also fast track the exemptions of promising players like Brandon Ganuelas Rosser, Kai Balunggay, Michael Phillips, Zavier Lucero, Christian David and Chris Koon.

they tried for BGR but it was denied, that is why Quinito was ranting about that blood should be thicker than soil, as MGR is eligible because he was born in the Philippines while his brother not which is stupid from FIBA as they have the same lineage only the difference is the place of birth

Very easy to predict the top 2 teams each of every group that will qualify directly for 2025 fiba asia cup (except for group E)

in group A, Australia and Korea will be easily the top 2 teams here.. Australia for sure will sweep this group while Koreans will be east 4-2 beating both Thailand and Indonesia… while the final battle between Thailand and Indonesia will determine what line up they will bring… slight advantage to Indonesia if they parade Bolden.. no one in Thailand can match up against bolden.. Thailand might have advantage in guard positions due to Lish, Morgan and possibly Lamb but Prastawa and Grahita are already veterans and can hang on vs Thai guards, but Thailand will have a problem guarding Bolden, I think bolden is one of the best naturalized players in Asia right now… but if bolden is not available, Prosper can do the job anyway against the likes of Jakrawan… Indonesia might sweep Thailand in their 2 game series…

          Australia 6-0
          Korea 4-2
          Indonesia 2-4
          Thailand 0-6

Group B is very easy too… New Zealand will be favorite s in this group while Gilas will be top 2… Taiwan will be no.3 and playing for playoff game for last chance for qualifying for all 3rd seeded teams… Hong Kong will be always cellar dwellers whatever they will be group.. A U16 team of Philippines or Taiwan can beat the national team of Hong Kong already…

            New Zealand 6-0
            Philippines 4-2
            Taiwan 2-4
            Hong Kong 0-6

Same in Group C.. Japan and China will be easy top 2 teams here… but I will pick China to win vs Japan, because Japan will be missing marquee players due to availability such as watanabe, Tominaga and Hachimura… China sweeps them twice In both asia cup and World Cup qualifiers… they have a size advantage vs Japan and they know how to beat them… while Guam and Mongolia are equally match… Guam only won 1 pt vs Mongolia last pre qualifiers last February and for sure Mongolia will upgrade their line up next time… I see them both split their 2 game series and quotient will be only determining for both of them who will be the 3rd placer…

              China 6-0
              Japan 4-2
              Guam 1-5
              Mongolia 1-5

It was an incident between the Philippine Coast guard and a Taiwanese fishing vessel which resulted in the killing of 1 Taiwanese crew, the SBP that time decided not to send Gilas, who was the defending champion that time in the Jones Cup for security reasons. Eventually, 8 members of the PCG were convicted by homicide a couple years after the incident

May has been a bad month for ties between Taiwan and the Philippines, with Taiwan reacting angrily to a Philippine coast guard vessel’s killing of a fisherman.

Group D is also easy pick as Jordan and KSA are easy top 2 picks in their group… But for sure full strength Jordan will beat full strength Saudis even KSA already beat Jordan in WC qualifiers 2 years ago, plus having RHJ as their naturalized player will give them huge upgrade in terms of quality NP for them… Saudis will banking on chemistry and Al Suiwalem is already better and better every year entering his prime years as basketball player… meanwhile I don’t have major information about Iraq and Palestine.. although Palestine will not have sani sakakini already and seems they are much weaker entering post sakakini era… But Palestine beat Iraq last year in their pre qualifier game 91-81.. so it seems this will be their inspiration if they match up again… sentimental pick for me is Palestine but I think Iraq will split their series vs Palestine…

                  Jordan 6-0
                  KSA 4-2
                  Iraq 1-5
                  Palestine 1-5

I knew it. There will be qualifying games in November to maximize the FIBA international break. Chances are there will be a clusterfuck with the PBA Commissioners Cup and both colleage leagues on-going.

Don't be surprised if the SBP sends a suicide squad much like how the BAP kept sending the PCCr varsity team before the entire federation imploded. Chances are, they will pool a bunch of volunteers two weeks before the two games. It was much different last time with the pandemic keeping a pool that had Dwight Ramos, Justine Baltazar, both Ravenas, Kobe Paras, and even a few PBA players like Abu Tratter. Realistically, you can form two national teams with just the bench and reserve players of all SMC teams. If all else fails, the SBP will have to get MPBL players.

I honestly don't know much about HK basketball compared to the other pot 3 & 4 East teams, so I really can't tell if an MPBL selection plus a Kouame or Brownlee can beat a HK team with a good naturalized player. Duncan Reid has been there since before 2014 and ought to be classified as a local... but I don't see them beating an ill-prepared Gilas team compared to NZ (even their team D with Taane Samuel made Koume look really bad) and Taipei (always competitive regardless of which league their players come from).

The SBP even with the pro-San Miguel management should consider quitting if they won't even qualify for the FIBA Asia Cup. It's the easiest group for our team to advance compared to the other two groups and there shouldn't be a reason to finish lower than HK.

                        Terrence - 31 (1992)

If we're gonna add those born from 1994 and earlier, we better make sure we add the right ones, and make sure that they're irreplaceable. Otherwise, we're wasting an opportunity to develop a new core for 2027.

Now that there is a team for the asian games, lets us hold our tongues, for now and pass judgement after the tournament.

However, all queries and concerns should be raised, NOW, exactly on what you just said. What is the plan for the qualifiers? Can we make a pool now? if ctc is just for asian games can we have a pool of coaches or a temp coaches just to oversee drills of potential pool players.

I'll give them 3 strikes till I boycott Gilas games until these wankers fuck off.

NZ? We need to beat these fuckers.
I watched a few games of the Chinese Taipei national team A in the recent Jones Cup, & I think CT is no pushover. The Taiwanese were impressive in the Jones Cup. The team actually is on rebuilding but it got some promising players like 6-foot-2 wingman Mohammed Al Bachir a. k. a. "Abbasi" & 6-foot-3 combo guard Benson Lin. These players are still young & are promising. Then there's the Hinton brothers who are 6-4/6-5 wingman playing in the US. Its naturalized William Artino seem to get along with the team.

Though I'm confident that a Gilas team anchored on Dwight Ramos, AJ Edu, Kai, Brownlee, Junmar, Malonzo, Parks, CJ Perez, Iskati, would be favored against CT, Gilas can't take the Taiwanese lightly.

It would be interesting who Al Chua will appoint as the head coach of the national team after the Asian games. With the recent screw up regarding the Asian games pool list I doubt they will entrust Choke to map out the FIBA windows, Im betting Chua will directly take charge of the program moving forward.

The SMC has power over the PBA and Marcial is just Chua's lapdog so I dont think they will have difficulty in putting together a team but as usual prep time will still be their main issue.

With the SMC people now involved with Gilas, I think there would be better plans & some foresight. Becoz if we just leave the planning & anticipation to Al Panlilio & his SBP cohorts, wala talagang mangyayari sa Gilas.
