  • I was wondering about frequent the non-inclusion of Roosevelt Adams and Ray Parks. I keep on thinking what if, alongside Calvin Oftana, we have a 6'4 Parks and 6'5 Adams at the wings. It could have addressed our apparent lack of length and shooters.

Well our PGs suck and Bolick who has been balling for the last few years wasn't even invited despite being willing and available. They even made the BS rumour about him going on their honeymoon, inability to share the ball with JC etc. He even got bashed a lot in socmed. Same with all the other Pinoy imports and Balti (?) . Winning games isn't really a priority for these people

Now, we'll need as many of the U26's as possible, because most of the pool for the WC and Asiad (excluding the ones you had on that list) are old.

        Japeth (retired) - 36 going 37
        Marcio - 36 going 37
        Abueva - 35 going 36
        Brownlee (NP) - 35 going 36
        Erram (retired) - 34 going 35
        June Mar - 34 going 35
        Newsome - 32 going 33
        Alas - 32 going 33
        Terrence - 31 going 32
        Pogoy - 31 going 32
        JC - 31 going 32
        Parks - 30 going 31
        Scottie - 30 going 31
        Perez - 30 going 31
        Oftana - 28
        Heading - 27 going 28
        Malonzo - 27 going 28
        Thirdy - 27 going 28

From this group, we really need to select those who can play until at least 2025. And the core has to be one that can play until 2027 at least. Focus on continuity even after that.

For this window, we need to call up as many players that are 28 and under (Carl, Dwight, Heading, Tuffin, Kai, Lopez, Quiambao, Mason, Gutang, SJ, RJ). We need to train for 2027. This window provides a perfect opportunity for us to start building with a younger core.

Agreed. Even the Asia Cup proper. He'll be 35 by then, but I don't think he'll fall off by that much.

            Mags: Abueva (1988)
SMB: June Mar (1989), Terrence (1992), Perez (1993)
            Ginebra: Ahanmisi (1991), Scottie (1993), Malonzo (1996)
            Phoenix: Tuffin (1997), Ricci (1998)
            MERALCO: Newsome (1990)
            NorthPort: Arvin (1995), Navarro (1997)
            RoS: Mamuyac (1999)
            TNT: Oftana (1996)
TNT are out, and we can recall Oftana. Hopefully, we recall no one else from that team (except maybe 37yo Castro).

That will prove Erika Dy is just another pawn in the dementia-infested world of SBP "stakeholders". All this bs on whoever the new coach is alreading having a set wishlist of players when it'll be just Al Francis doing the actual procurement of talent.

SMC have 7 eligible players that are useful right now (Abueva, June Mar, Terrence, M. Ahanmisi, Scottie, Perez, Malonzo), with Marcio as a probable end of bench player, and with Brownlee as the NP. Average age of 32. And of those 9, only Malonzo will be below 30 by the start of the window. Not exactly a long-term roster as Erika Dy said, Unless we count NorthPort and TerraFirma, the farm teams, which will include Arvin, Navarro, and Javi.

And, they have to be brain dead not to include Dwight, who is our most versatile player, and our best SF, not to mention being with Gilas since 2020. And the PBA has a glaring lack of viable PF's in FIBA (the useful eligibles are all outside the PBA (Carl, Mason, Balti), and Brownlee's the only useful full-time FIBA PF in the PBA).

Plus, Chua did mention the overseas guys. Keeping my expectations muted, but we can hope that the lineup will be more inclusive of them.

Yeah, hope so too. He's one of the few capable natural PF's we have.

Me thinks this is a diversity, equity hire and also she's gonna be the spokesman and if anything goes wrong, she will take the brunt of it,saving the bruised ego of Panililio,SBP,Vargas, etc.

So including Brownlee at least 7,then 3 from other PBA teams and 2 overseas with Kai one of them, the none SMC players are the ones they're trying to convince to sign to SMC teams,1 overseas guy who's a specialist in his position and for Kai them trying to use his NIL for SMC products.

                        • The funny thing is aside from Brownlee, the players that contributed most to the Asiad gold is not with SMC. Without Kouame we would not have won. For the locals it was Newsome who was most instrumental in the gold medal game. The SMC players are not the best international players in their position. Junemar is best as a backup now. We will lose if he is the best center in the team. Scottie is still not our best PG, it is Bollick. CJ is not the best SG. Malonzo is good but he is a tweener. Dwight is still our best SF. At PF Jamie is a bit small.

I dont think Al Chua has any illusions that he can win with mostly SMC players.

I listened to Snow's podcast and he blamed the old guard for the asian games list debacle. She might be a stooge but hopefully she is competent.

She defintely has way more basketball experience than the old farts combined. Also, her family was the political dynasty in Isabela so she probably can get hired goons if the other stakeholders mess with her. That's something that the SBP never had. Everyone was just an employee of some padrino. This lady could have been a political heiress if she wanted to. It'll start with the coaching hire, if it's a wtf moment followed by a player list of significant omissions... then we know what's up.

You need good defenders flanking Bolick, so Newsome and Dwight are the first choices at the 2 and 3 spots. Scottie can be good as a utility backup. And then you need lengthy wings to defend. Malonzo, Oftana, and Navarro are those guys. At center, you need him to protect the rim, unless the guy is as good as Jokic and has as much of an impact on offense, so Ange is a must. And at 4, you still need a big 4 that will be physical inside. Japeth and Erram have retired, and Troy and Almazan are unreliable in FIBA, so you need the likes of AJ (who is injured right now), Carl, Balti, and maybe Mason. Need a shooter like Heading too. Marcio's 36, and Wright's unreliable in FIBA.
