I am not worried about the loss last night. I am more concerned Tim’s adjustments for the next tournament in terms of adding a few talents to the pool. I hope he realizes this.
    Totally agree with this.

Gotta take the good with the bad, there's no alternative without its own faults.

Hopefully, the past couple of games have been enough to consider roster additions.

definitely. Taiwan headcoach already used our Lebanon loss template. this Gilas iteration is already exposed and figured out.

      • I think if we won last night's game (it would still be a close one), people would still point out some shortcomings/flaws of our team & would still take notice of Taiwan's significant improvement.

But definitely, that would still make us feel much much better. A win is a win eh!

First of all, the team needs to practice playing against ball pressure much more. No NBA team presses because teams can easily break it. Having a big target like JB as a release valve who can handle the ball should allow us to break any pressure. The past couple of games really exhibited a lot of turnovers and a lot were mental lapses more than skill issue. For some reason the team doesn't look locked in mentally. They seem to focus only at the end game.

But, if we're going to add another ball-handler, I'm leaning towards a guy like Winston. Can potentially be a good defender and has a middy game on top of ballhandling.

Were relying too much on JB. He already scored almost half our points total and to be honest that probably is one of better shooting games. It's the supporting cast thats a bit of a letdown. Not locked on defense. Crumbles under pressure. We've been sucking for a while now.

Coaching staff already adjusted mid-4th quarter when they ran Spain PNR, and got back the lead (this still becomes a Brownlee takeover/bailout outcome though) but we had TOs (Newsome offensive foul on the pick, and Brownlee fastbreak bad pass) that led to the loss.

i agree, they can switch it up by playing other offensive sets before going back to triangle to confuse opponents maybe early in the game in the 1st half. there should be adjustments for the next game because roster changes can only happen in the next tournament (Asia Cup). otherwise, expect a blowout in New Zealand.

Actually they can change players per game in this window but only allows who are on the pool only

                  • it seems odd to all of you

but I'm super duper happy with the lost last night and the possible result on the 23rd.

exposure like that is very very necessary moving forward.

the coaching staff already knows the flaws and weaknesses of the team.

CTC is well known for his adjustment and they should correct those things come FIBA Asia Cup

they must figure it out what went wrong on the next training camp...otherwise..oh well..

I totally agree that some of the personnel are not the next level up guys

but CTC already mentioned many times that he's done teaching that is why he preferred a small pool

either we as a fan agree or disagree on his line of reasoning we can only comment...that's our restriction our boundary.

both SMB and MVP camp unanimously voted for his inclusion as the national coach, that's their call.

anyway I already mentioned this before, the possibility that they would add a few warm bodies in the training camp

is the obvious thing, the so-called "Fast-track storyline" nowadays.

                        • Guys, do U think if it was Jordan who faced Taiwan last night, Taiwan would still have won? With the way Taiwan shot last night, I think any Asian team will have difficulty defending.

I didn't see much of the game. But from what I have heard many of the looks were from just single screens. Wouldn't switching at times break their rhythm? Secondly, basketball is a game of runs and rhythms. I suppose starting JMF there and playing him major minutes gave Taiwan a lot of open looks that could've started their momentum. With the rhythm and confidence they got they were probably able to take and make more well defended shots.

Ironically enough, Gilas had the better shooting percentage from 3 at 47.6% compared to their 34.9% but they took way more attempts since their offense was geared more towards shooting 3s. It really came down to defense which was a problem even in the previous window when New Zealand shot 51% from 3.

This is misleading. Almost all of the makes were from JB. Dwight made only 2/8. The others none I think. If our other players don't have the confidence in taking 3s or are not sufficiently open that's another problem. Relying our outside shooting almost primarily on Brownlee is a mistake I think. Secondly, letting Dwight take 8 shots for only 25% accuracy is not good offense IMO. Surely we have better shooters? We know Dwight for all his talents is not the most accurate 3 pt shooter. He is best off doing the kick-outs and should only shoot as a secondary option.
