trolling? All I did was state the factors that helped us win. Not undermine it.

The team has its problems; this is obvious. I merely want to point them out because they need to be addressed. It doesn’t mean I’m trolling. Typical pinoy; conflating criticisms with insults.

ang sabihin mo you can’t stand criticisms.

As for SMC/Chua, I don’t like them. Period.
"The team only won because of this and because of that."

I guess we only won against Latvia because they kept missing their easy 3s, didn't take advantage of our slow bigs and got pressured on their home floor. We only beat NZ because they lacked size and kept shooting 3s. And on and on.

Losers won't run out of excuses. But our team won right?

"I can't stand criticisms?" It's because our team won, why would I criticize the team if they won. Regardless of anything else, they still had to win on the court, nothing was given. They did their job so why would I criticize them.

Someone pointing out how we won, you getting triggered, and calling them excuses. Yeah, I wonder who that is?

Again, how about you read? Did I mention a single thing about that Latvia win?

All my statements were directed at that Asiad win.

Yes, you can't stand criticism. The fact that you still conflate my statements towards the Asiad win as "excuses" shows you're not making an effort to understand. Rather you'd prefer to dismiss others who don't agree with your narrative.

      I made my side clear.

      - SMC/Chua -- I don't like

      - Luck played a big role in that Asiad win

      - Having a small pool is not the best approach.

Just because others don't bask in the same magnitude as you in those wins, doesn't mean they are detractors.

Glad it came from you. It's luck. Of course you wouldn't mention the wins against Latvia and NZ, because that would mean it's no longer luck.

Honestly, I thought the Asiad success was a one-time fluke. But seeing the continued improvement and succeeding significant wins changed my view. And I would give part of the credit to the system. The identity of the team which is defense, size and the triangle is giving opponents a hard time. Chemistry and familiarity are vital for that identity. The other big part of the credit I would give to the overseas young players. Now that our best young guys are gaining experience internationally, the value they bring is immense.

Things are looking forward and up. It's sad that some can not enjoy it.

I'm old enough to know how long that 25 year Asian Games drought is. And the Asia Cup drought is 40 years and counting. I remember how ecstatic everyone was when Chot beat Korea and secured a silver. If we miraculously win a gold, I will savor that successful moment.

Because luck didn’t play that big of a role against those two teams. We won those games on our own merit and team ball. We didn’t rely on one player to go nuclear.

The Asiad one did. Just rewatch the semis against China.

Making criticisms doesn’t mean you don’t enjoy it.

I never bashed the team to begin with. I merely pointed out the negatives affecting us. You don’t read because you’re too caught up with toxic positivity.

Ignoring apparent problems isn’t being positive. It’s simply being irresponsible and pretending everything is perfectly alright when it isn’t.

Things are looking forward and up, but we need to address the glaring issues like depth and injuries.

Savor it as much as you want. No one’s stopping you.

It’s your problem if others have a different viewpoint and aren’t happy with it.

I'd rather be toxically positive than toxically negative. The team is winning and yet you sound like it's been losing. And not allowing yourself to celebrate if we win the Asia Cup is sad.

There's no perfect program/system. Part of the success of this program is "team ball" like you said. It's how guys are able to mask defensive weaknesses and it's how the offense is unpredictable. With that positive, comes negatives. It's difficult integrating new players. Everything has pros and cons, we use results to figure out which one works. So far results have been positive.

Hear you loud and clear. Gilas success won't make you happy. Your viewpoint is more important.

On that note, good luck to you.

                  Toxicity is toxicity.

Don’t ignore the team’s present problems and pretend things are alright.

that’s simply you taking things out of context and interpreting them as you wish to fit your narrative.

I didn’t get carried away with Tim’s recent success. I don’t plan to even if we miraculously win the Asia Cup.

The real litmus test is still qualifying for Qatar 2027 and LA 2028.

We meet both objectives, then maybe I’ll believe this “smaller pool is better” BS.

didn’t say I won’t celebrate. All I said was that even if we win miraculously, I won’t be high on CTC’s approach yet. Beating Australia (yes, we will definitely meet them in the finals or at some point in the tournament) without Kai will take a miracle. You don’t get high on miracle wins. Celebrate them but don’t get carried away. That’s all I meant.

All you did was misinterpret my statement (as I’ve said) to fit your narrative.

You don’t understand nuance because you don’t read and prefer to see things in rose-tinted glasses.

Different viewpoint doesn’t mean opposite view point.

I never said my viewpoint was more important. It’s my opinion and no one forced you to accept it.

You don’t agree? Then, good day to you.

I'm hoping that CTC will have another option besides his triangle, once the opposing team figured it out,it's all downhill for them.On defense it looks like he's more flexible he doesn't employ that pack the paint Gin defense much,we don't want to see ala Chot small all the way.

If you're referring to last night, we should remember the stated goals before the tuneups began...experiment, test new guys and give Edu vital experience (winning and losing can offer different lessons). If you take into account those objectives, you will see the game in a different light. It's absolutely possible we could've won if our primary objective was to win.

As for the Triangle, every system has its pros and cons. We're not like team USA teeming with talent where we can adapt any style and beat any type of team. Our system gives us a good probability of beating certain types of teams and there are also teams where it won't be the case. We can only go by results, and so far our results have been better than most of our recent history.

The system fits our talent...size (Kai, JMF, Edu), non trad PG(Scottie), versatile wings (News, Dwight) and an MJ/Kobe guy in Brownlee. Shooting is not our strong suit and we have defensive weaknesses...both of which can be minimized with the triangle. Chemistry/cohesiveness (sum better than the parts) also gives us a chance to beat much talented teams.

Of course it's worthwhile to always innovate, improve and add options, but at the end of the day, the most successful teams have a strong and consistent Team Identity. The key is when even if your opponent knows what you're going to do, he can't stop it.

Local, Duncan Reid is their NP. I think FIBA is taking it easy against weak teams in terms of eligibility guidelines. Might looks like unfair but it is what it is.
