Bolick publicly stated that he would like to play for GILAS again yet he was never even invited despite our need for good guards.
Japeth is older but still better under a Tim cone system than Balti, Almazan or Erram. Name a better PBA bigman than Japeth not named Junmar. Will bolicks dribble drives and isos work in Cone's triangle?

Cone's style is short rotation of 7-8 players. Thats is why even Tamayo and KQ dont get enough burn. If a couple of the starters are injured, naturally the bench mob gets the starting roles. This elevates the reserves to be the bench players who will never get playing time. So why are we arguing about who goes to the reserves when they are glorified practice players in Cone's scheme of things.

This Gilas, unlike the orignal, is not a developmental team.

Japeth was brought out of GILAS retirement. Troy who most people agreed disappointed before but kinda forgiven because he's TCs boy now was even brought in to fill out the roster. This isn't even Balti over Japs. AJs injury prone. We've been lucky so far with Kai but he just had a major injury. This is about adding more players to the pool. Do all the players have to come from Ginebra? Are other players not allowed to learn his ultra hard system? Cone can take advantage of Bolick's strengths. We don't know how they'll look in Cones' system because they hadn't even been invited. How come some players are given a pass even though they hadn't played under Cone before. And we all know it's not because of basketball skills or there personalities.

Everyone is clamoring for Ange to be an eligible local player, and deservedly so. He's so much worthier than those Qataris.

And yet, if it's to fit someone's argument, he's absolutely nothing but an NP.

We also had Ange and Brownlee. Two NPs.

Australia, NZ, and Lebanon also didn’t participate.
So sad that one can not enjoy the success of his country's team.

It's the first time I've seen someone making so many excuses for a victory. Usually, it's done by those rooting for the other team.

Btw, we beat Lebanon in the finals.

Let’s not forget Qatar got those Africans and Bosnians at least when they were 15. Probably paid for their education and training. Yes we can claim Kouame’s basketball heritage. But can we do the same for Dwight and Newsome and all the other guys we want to be eligible like QMB and Lucero? This is not about blood. Yes they got one exemption. But arent we hoping for the same for our ineligibles? QMB and Lucero arrived here as developed players already. Basketballwise those African and Bosnians have a better claim than our ineligibles.

I think the point with Ange was that we needed his interior defense to win that Asiad, especially even getting to the final.

In the present situation, we have key interior defenders in Kai and AJ. Ange is in the pool, but he's an NP and a reserve. The way I see it, if we lose both Kai and AJ we're gonna have a harder time winning against the Asian powers, based on how we play and how we're constructed as of now. Thank goodness AJ is healthy for now. But I hope we can find a way to win without both Kai and AJ, and this Doha tournament and FIBA window will give us the opportunity to do that.

                  I’m stating facts.

we didn’t beat Lebanon. We beat Jordan. How about getting your facts straight?

if anything, you’re the one making excuses and coming off as an SMC apologist.

Dwight, Newsome, filams, etc are Filipinos according to our constitution. With or without basketball they are Filipinos.

Those Qataris on the other hand, if not for basketball, they wouldn't be Qataris.

Yes, Jordan I'd give you that.

We won so I'm definitely not making excuses. I rooted for the winner. You're making the excuses so that makes you?...

We won because of what? I stated facts.

You are making excuses for the SMC group.

You’re just basking on that victory because it’s convenient.

I made my position clear. The SMC group and Chua are shady and have questionable decisions. Those guys are where my eyebrows are raised not Gilas the team.

honestly, you are trolling at this point and not reading between lines.

No one is undermining that Asiad win. People are simply stating how we won it.

You’re just mad because people aren’t on the same wavelength in your fanboyism.

call them excuses if you like but my argument are valid. There are valid excuses.

This is why I wished that they make up their mind about AK34,we can't always have Kai or AJ around it's either injury or availability, with Ange as a local, they can get another NP that can play the 3/4 position, even if said player is not a very good defender.Gilas needs at least 4 or 5 guys who have size to play the 4/5,at any given time 1 or 2 will be down,at least you have ready and tested players to step up.

I understand completely how important Ange was.

The thing is, in every tournament, there will be a myriad of factors that come into play. Many, many factors that could go our way or not. But at the end of the day, for 25 years we weren't able to come up with anything. Previous teams/coaches had 25 years to win but they didn't.

I'd be honest, after winning that gold, I thought it was just a one-time fluke. That Gilas hasn't really improved that much. And then we continued winning improbable games. Also, the young guys seem like they are improving and playing to their capabilities. For a long time, so many young players don't live up to expectations when they play for the NT. I think a big part of that is because a lot of the young guys play overseas, which helps with the international play. I'm not pro-PBA/SMC or whatever BS. I'm pro-Gilas success. I didn't want the Tab program to end, that version also showed promise. Which is why it sucked afterwards.

I just want the team to have continued success. Our best players (golden generation) is about 5-10 years from peaking. I was worried that the program was going to waste them, but at least for now, we can envision a good path forward.

This would be funny if it weren't sad. It figures, it's from someone who says it would be a miracle to win the Asia Cup, but even if we pull off that miracle, it's not a success.

You're problem is with Chua and SMC, then keep your trolling towards them and their evil deeds.

Gilas winning on the basketball court and everything that happens in the actual games are separate from them.

WTH does evil Chua have to do with Australia not playing in the tournament, or China allowing Ange to play. Unless, you think he also had something to do with that.

                                How about you read?

If I have high expectations, it doesn’t mean I am undermining the team’s achievements. Miracle wins are called a miracle for a reason. Because they are difficult to replicate.

trolling? All I did was state the factors that helped us win. Not undermine it.

The team has its problems; this is obvious. I merely want to point them out because they need to be addressed. It doesn’t mean I’m trolling. Typical pinoy; conflating criticisms with insults.

ang sabihin mo you can’t stand criticisms.

As for SMC/Chua, I don’t like them. Period.
