Nevertheless it’s worthwhile to have a team B to which we can pick additional players in case of injuries in team A. But again it’s down with resources, money specifically. It’s common knowledge that Gilas players received 6, 7 or even 8 figures allowances from SBP during FIBA windows. And that’s exclusive of insurance premiums which I understand KBL and B.league imposes. So don’t expect SBP to shoulder all these costs in an expanded pool.

To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

really simple gameplan, every player should be able to score and defend. Tangalin yung dating ugali na either tinatanggap lang nilang bata batain sila o mag tatantrum kapag d kaya ang mismatch, naging trademark ng gilas under chot. I'm pretty sure most of our foreign based players and even the pba ones are capable of infusing their personalities into basketball na hindi na dala yung pagiging iyakin at balat sibuyas, demonstrated with their historical Ws against lithuania and nzl, it's not just Kai that bought those Ws, it's a tectonic shift in basketball culture and mindset in general(at least the mindset of the players and how progressive many fans have become)

No point in making the pool bigger as it would be more obvious that there are certain players being skipped. In fact the recent players that TC has added are mostly Gin's players. He can always give the excuse that their familiar with the system. But the fact is how can you make others be familiar with the system if you never put them in your program. Can you really say that Abarrientos is better at the Fiba game than Heading or Bollick? Or that Troy and and Ralph Cu have more potential at the Fiba game than Baltazar?
that is why I'm looking forward for the coming months in preparation for the coming SEAG and all the way for 2026 AG
all non-FIBA sanctioned events.
if they still insist that those chosen 12 plus his GSM boys(excluding Kai) will be the one who will represent team PHI on those tourney
then all our speculation are true on both CTC and Grandpa Chualay.
the new storyline nowadays are all about "I'm done teaching here and there...familiarity is very important" blah! blah! blah!.

I didn’t get carried away with Tim’s recent success. I don’t plan to even if we miraculously win the Asia Cup.
The real litmus test is still qualifying for Qatar 2027 and LA 2028.
We meet both objectives, then maybe I’ll believe this “smaller pool is better” BS.

Well everyone was sick and tired of the Reyeses. And he looked ok so far. And it's probably a good thing that the people who used block players from playing in the NT is in charge now. We don't have to beg them anymore to lend their players. Tough luck though for those people on their shit list.

For me, I'm just glad that the national program is on the rise.
I do not think the recent achievements is chop liver. Winning an Asian Games gold (last medal was 25 years ago and only a bronze), first time defeating a top 10 in Latvia, finally getting one against NZ and another Euro, etc. has happened so suddenly that now guys think those things were supposed to be easy. Just last Asia Cup we ended up 9th, and now it's a realistic goal to be 2nd.
And on top of that, some core players like Kai, Dwight, Carl, AJ are still not in their prime and then much younger players like Bayla, Amos, Gemao are still viable prospects. Add to that the Filfors that can be qualified. There's still room for upside.
Also important, the team has an identity and a system, things that are vital for continued success.
It's never going to be a straight line up, but at least now the direction if you zoom out is up.

If guys will just contemplate on that Asian Games gold. For a quarter of a century we haven't won a medal and the last time we did it was a bronze.
Then we win gold. And on the way to the finals we had to beat "chef" China in China. If that's not a worthy achievement then I don't know what is.
Everyone's expectations has risen so much higher...yet many are not acknowledging/appreciating the reason for that rise in expectations.

But setting that aside first and talking purely basketball...a superior player is not necessarily always the better player for a team. No one will dispute that Clarkson is vastly superior to Brownlee. But, in terms of Gilas, Brownlee is the better and more effective fit. On that note, I wouldn't automatically say that superior players are a better fit than Cu. Especially since his role is to be a role player.
