Yes, they have also schedule against Taiwan.. much stronger compare to HK… but maybe 3 week preparation and scouting reports vs Taiwan is OK already… we will use Hong Kong game for preparation vs Taiwan game… this is only applicable if we play 2 hard games in a window… but not these two, especially Hong Kong…

it’s only two games so they’re more or less going with the Asiad core + KBL / B.League boys
is JB32 suspended or can he play?
Starting 5
Scottie
Dwight
Brownlee
Malonzo
Junemar
Bench
Newsome
RJ Abarrientos
Kai
Tamayo
Oftana
Perez
BRP
Coach: Cone or Jong

Brownlee still can’t able to play… until now the release of his suspension still not yet announced… I don’t know the problem but I hope JB will be not in doghouse by FIBA and WADA…

Mike Phillips?
We hope its AK,with the way Kai is playing and trying to protect his "back injury" for the Summer League,Gilas is gonna need a solid performance at the 5 spot, specially with AJ can't play yet.

Maybe because their opponent are not worth for a preparation… Sorry bro, Hong Kong doesn’t deserve for us to prepare 1 month against them… even other countries will not do that against a minnow team like Hong Kong…"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

The team was impressive in last year's Jones Cup & in last year's Asian Games, it finished 4th behind Gilas, Jordan & mainland China.
SBP,PBA/SMC thinks 2 weeks is more than enough.

For one or two opponents, it's doable especially since there's already an established core. Kailangan na lang talaga implement ng maayos at wag papalit palit ng sistema.
If they gonna tweak the system,I always thought 3 weeks,1 week of tweaking the system and 2 weeks learning them.

Hindi yung hintayin pa ni Al Panlilio na 3 weeks nalang yung 1st window before he will ask a Dwight Ramos if he is willing to play for Gilas in the 1st window. What if Dwight Ramos would say, "I & my girlfriend are going to take a 1 week vacation in Boracay by that time. If you have talked to me earlier, I would have postponed that vacation in May & would gladly play for Gilas in February"
So paano, nganga nalang tayo?
I say there should be talks between SBP & the possible Gilas players in February as early as possible."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Since the PBA might probably not take a brief break to give way to the 1st window, it would be the B-league players & perhaps KBL players & college players who would probably be tapped for Gilas. But SBP should have or should already be talking to these players as early as possible. SBP should already be asking a Kai Sotto or a Dwight Ramos or a Thirdy Ravena or a Justin Gutang or a Kevin Quiambao if he is available & would be willing to play for Gilas in February.

Maybe add players who became their teammates, like Oftana, and then newer guys like Tuffin.
Not a bad idea to invest on youth, unless we want a roster composed of too many players in their mid-to-late 30's by 2027.Last edited by IPC; 01-04-2024, 08:00 AM.
