the gap between their Paris Team and that so-called Team B is not that big...

      it's still solid...all(?) are B. League vets.

then if they integrate those tall Black Japs(all eligible) that are currently playing in Div. 1

then the parity of talents between their Team A and B are almost the same

that is why it is very important to SBP to re-establish it's grassroot development for U16 and U18 ASAP

to make sure the talent level between the main team and the propose Cadet Team are

within the competitive level against our counterpart in Asia-Oceania's own Cadet team as well.

because honestly if we assemble an ideal Team B for now chances are it is compose mostly

of ineligibles whom we cannot parade on a FIBA sanctioned tourney but only on SEAG and AG instead.
This is what the SBP signed up for: suck up to CTC and Alfrancis. It's not as if we don't have a U16/U18... it's just that we haven't seen LA Tenorio coach an official game. Also, there's nothing in between the U18 level and the men's level so it's like asking Gemao and Kiefer Alas to be part of the pool with KQ and Tamayo which isn't a bad idea, it's just that we won't know if they'll still be elite players in 4 years (remember Kobe Paras? No one was talking about Rhenz Abando in 2016). We've already seen Japeth and now Troy Rosario, I think additions will just be a matter of player availability with majority coming from whoever played together more recently.

      • So February 10 would be the start of Gilas training camp in preparation for the 3rd window. There's some hiccup however. The Japanese B-league last games prior to the 3rd window would be February 9, which means Dwight Ramos & AJ Edu would probably join Gilas training on February 11. South Korea's KBL on the other hand will have its last games prior to the 3rd window on February 13. By this time nasa Doha, Qatar na ang Gilas for a pocket tournament. Most likely, Carl Tammayo & KQ will join Gilas when the team is already in Qatar.

Still, this would be enough & a very good preparation for Gilas for the 3rd window. And this pocket tournament in Doha would benefit Gilas not just for the 3rd window but more importantly for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup tournament proper. Gilas needs as many tune-up games it can get during the period leading to the FIBA Asia Cup in August.

Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

        • Coach Tim obviously is expecting a tough quarterfinal series between his Ginebra team & Meralco.

          • CTC trying to make it clear that Doha and the 3rd window will be used as preparation for the Asia Cup in August. Specifically, a priority will be to use it to incorporate Edu into the system. In other words, winning this immediate games will not be the overriding goal...winning in August is.

That means experiment, work out the kinks, test the bench guys a lot.

But of course, once games commence, many will expect Gilas to go for the win like the fate of all Pinoy babies is on the line.

Winning in August? lol Let's hope for the best and the basketball gods being merciful.

Oh, we better hope Australia doesn't have their NBA players on the roster.

Already not liking the best matchups we have against Giddey.

Oh, so you will only consider it a success if we beat Australia. Okay got it.

                • A 2nd place finish behind Australia is a win for me; it just means we are the best legit Asian team. Although beating Australia was possible if not for Kai's injury. They didn't field any NBA players during the last Asia Cup anyway, and Lebanon made them work for their money. Having the same finish as Lebanon’s Asia Cup run this August would be considered progress and a win.

I thought that 100% would agree with your expectations, that reaching the Finals would be a W.

But, goes to show it's never 100%, there's always that .01 outlier.

                        Australia is the bench mark.

They are the toughest team in the zone.

That's the kind of burden a head coach of a basketball crazy nation has to carry. If you're the Gilas head coach, U can't lose a game & simply say, "We just made some experiment and didn't really go all out to win the game".Pinoy basketball fans are so unforgiving.

Yeah. I strongly believed a complete Gilas team (with Kai, AJ Edu) with good preparation has a good chance of even beating Australia for the gold medal. We all know that Australia doesn't send its national team-A in the Asia Cup, so I think teams like Gilas, Lebanon, Japan, China, New Zealand have good chances of winning the 2025 Asia Cup title.

Sayang talaga that 1 of our key player won't be playing for us in the Asia Cup.

So you do confirm that anything less than beating Australia is a failure?

Australia is the Gold Standard. Meaning they are the best, numero uno defending champs.

Last time I checked we placed 9th the last Cup.

So from that point, not winning gold will be a failure for you.

                                Minimum goal: 2nd place

                                Golden goal: 1st

you don’t get 1st without beating Australia
