I think that FSAs are quite easier to recruit than to recruit teenage Fil-Foreigners. Those players, especially from Africa, will grab the chance to study and have a degree in a country far better than theirs. There is an opportunity to continue their basketball career after college as well. Enlisting them as early as junior high school (grade 7-10/12-16 years old), will bolster their chances to be classified as a local.

Recruiting teenage Fil-Foreigners is whole different story in my opinion.

Ruies that can be thrown away like in Kyle Harris case. I think just pay FIBA and then select any player we need.

Not that easy. Fiba has many clients including our rivals in asia.

        • As they say in basketball , adjust to how the referee is calling the game and the actual rules, if they allow you to hit the ball while on the rim and not be called for goal tending , adopt.
if referees in FIBA are calling hand check fouls or travelling calls different from how they apply it in the domestic league, adjust and adopt. reality of life

it's not just the Philippines that has to navigate the envoronment of how FIBA operates. there are hundred other countries who also don't have the resouces that Qatar has, and despite that Qatar's not more successful than others , and others aren't complaining. The world order of who are the top ranked teams are still generally based on who produces the best players.
Would be sily for 1 federation to be dong the complaining, and complaining about a lowly ranked team.

That is not adjusting to a call. That's manipulating the rules to make one team win. Changing the rule you set 15 years ago and enforcing it to other teams. Then change it to accommodate a team is not fair.

FIBA really didn't do it for the fairness of the game.

Just last window, how can you count a basket when the time remaining is .4 of a second then the ball was tap away and Spain made a turn around shot to tie the ball game
This happen in Spain vs Slovakia. With all the technologies they didn't made the right call on that.

It's not about high ranked or low ranked team doing that stuff... We are talking about integrity, fairness of the sport.. Qatar might not affecting high ranked teams, but it does for low ranked teams who playing fair and square with dignity... What if teams like Japan or China will do the same what Qatar does? Are you ok with that? If they still abusing the rule and find that loophole then better to scrap the Hagop rule.. it will benefit more teams such as Vietnam and Cambodia, many countries will get their groove to join Fiba more since they can compete now with their heritage players...

With Qatar having 2 world imports playing together as only one of them is considered as naturalized player, expect Qatar to overtake fellow Gulf countries Saudi Arabia, Bahrain - something that Qatar would have difficulty doing if it is only allowed 1 world import in its team.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

I don't know since Gulf competition is tough, all of them are in same level... Bahrain won last Gulf championships last summer, they beat that Qatar team with Harris and Lewis played together.. now Bahrain lose to UAE, that has also 2 foreign players played together too.. it's all about match ups in Gulf... Although in UAE, Ndiaye is a local since he is already doing residency in Dubai for more than 5 years while their naturalized is Dickerson... Saudi is consistent this qualifiers especially if they are playing at their home... I'm also looking for Kai Sotto vs Al Suwailem match up.. offensively Kai is miles better but in defense, I think Al Suwailem is better, his awareness on defense is better than Kai, I watch Al suwailem so many times, he's so very good at shot blocking ability, in Iraq game, there are many open shots that Iraqis could have taken but Al Suwailem swating it away despite there is a 1 meter away from that position.. if Al Suwailem have offensive plays, he could be a better player...

                  • So far there is no official complaint from any federation.

What isn't logical is to use Qatar so-called discretion practice, to justify that our ineligible should be exempted,
SBP should make it's case for whoever they feel shoold be exempted based on the guidelines of exception , r
                    1 residency
                    2. domestic play and
                    3. Other connections- connection to a verified citizen as a bonus. (NOT lineage to a non citizen who happens to have Filipino like enthicity).

Now question does the most notable player (CLARKSON) who is well documented as who the SBP focus on getting an exception, meet any of the explicit guidelines?

2nd question are there Filipino players who match more the criteria who the SBP has not filed for an exception? Note the consequences if one gets exempted- he can potentially play in the B league..

3rd question, one are most fans misguided views on what is the basis for exception, isn't it a well know fact that everyone is complaining about the Clarksons due to meron dugo ( a misguided understanding of who has a legal documented connection)

                    • Now if you want to objectively talk about fair practice and no hanky panky magic moves.

You realize rhe SBP officially made a press release and presented visibole over the internet Clarkson had a Philippine passport at 14 years old, only later to retract both the statement and the citing of the passport after being found out that the passport was actually falsified , based on international intelligence record

Let's not be so quick to judge, without 1st looking at what are practices are .

Again why is Harris exempted. It's not
about just making clear how not to be eligible but also how is Harris is eligible. It's in called the bylaws for a reason

I don't know how that answers my question. For our knowledge here in this forum. How do you define residency requirements? Has Harris accomplished them.
