  • Big difference with Qatar and Philippines situation, Qatar is an importer of migrants (85 % of residency population are foreigners), Philippines on the other hand is an exporter of migrant workers all over the world ( at least 10 million live overseas). Unfortunately for the Philippines the latter situation is more favorable for FIBA eligibility rules.

So if that's the case then he applied a months prior turning 16? Then if before pala nagapply, this is the route that can be taken by SBP for him. If that's the case he should be eligible.
If SBP files for an exception, and if the record of application is verifiable in international intelligence records . In both cases this hasn't been established. So he's not confirmed as eligible

      • Here is the thing FIBA U16 rule and it's process are well established for a decade now, Qatar simply found a way to game the system legally. It's not about if it is right or wrong . But they found away to take advantage of the rules legally

        • If the SBP has a problem with the U16 rule, there is a right appropriate process for policy adjustment.
it's certainly doesnt involved complaining about others who follow the process to get favorable advantage

Sorry DAdmiral I was actually replying to empyreanmaze and not you. IBN forums getting buggy again. I'm actually agreeing with what you're saying here DAdmiral.

            • Guam gave Japan a scare. IMO, if they send those rosters here in the Philippines, this will be a 20 point advantage in favor of Gilas.

Being Chinese is also a nationality as China also has hundreds of many different ethnic groups that happen to be dominated by the Han. Being Chinese means you might be ethnically Uighur, Mongol, or even Manchu. Mengke Bateer is an ethnic Mongolian and Abdurixit is ethnic Uighur yet they're still "Chinese".

Are U aware of what Qatar basketball did in the 2000's when it recruited quite a No. Of players from Africa (of no Qatari descent) then it gave them Qatari citizenship & have them play in the Qatar national team as local players? That's the reason Qatar was competitive in Asian basketball during the 2000's.

Qatar can do that because it has the money to draw or attract foreign players (of no Qatari descent) to play for the Qatar national team.

In Philippine basketball on the other hand, what we did (& still is doing) is to convince Fil-american or Fil-foreign players to play in the PBA so that in turn, they might play for the national team as in the cases of Danny Seigle, Asi Taulava, Kelly Williams, Gabe Norwood, etc. But those players are natural born Filipinos. Those African & Bosnian players playing & had played for the Qatar national team on the other hand are absolute foreigners of no Qatari descent & were just "converted" into Qatari locals.

My point here is that it's very hard to believe the possibility that if for instance Tyler Harris applied for or had obtained Qatari passport prior to his 16th b-day, it took so many years (Harris is already 31 yrs old by the way) before the Qataris were able to convince him to finally play for the Qatar national team as a local knowing how eager or determined the Qataris are in making their national team competitive. Remember that for several years now, Qatar basketball has struggled in Asian basketball. For sure Harris would have been a big help in making the team competitive if Harris had joined the team say 6 years ago.
I'm sure Harris didn't know where Qatar is before he played there professionally.. his family are all Americans and they don't have any connections to Qatar.. weird tong si Analyzed (D'Admiral)... Niloloko Tayo eh... He's believe that Harris obtain Qatari passport at age of 16.. At that time he was playing in High school...

this has nothing to do with Harris availability, but Qatars capabilities, ( they actually plan well in advance to game a system which is legal)
They might have that capabilities to do that but Harris? You can't fool anyone here.. You can search his career and professional life and you will not see him having any connections, either birth, raised, reside or even travel to Qatar before last year... Did you search where he played before?

                          • My prediction on the remaining games today:

China routing Mongolia by 40 pts

Indonesia beating Thailand by 8 pts

Gilas routing Hongkong by 35 pts.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV
