  • We played with our "Latino" roster, which we should have always did.

Guards who are big, strong, quick and can shoot from the outside. Plus high basketball IQ.

Bigs who are agile and strong and relatively quick for their size.

    • As good brownlee is the barometer of national team performance is always rely on Kai Sotto..
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
      1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

Coach Tim and JB should never have to pay for their drinks in the Philippines.

These two looked like they didnt know how to play basketball with Choke at the helm.

And where is my statement that I insinuated that Georgia will be easy pickings? Tanga na sinungaling pa. Hahahaha. Most of the guys here are realist and argues with logic. Ikaw lang naman yun feeling expert with your half-witted arguments. Ang pinaguusapan dito is you saying that Gilas/CTC will tank, not the capability of Gilas on beating Latvia. I get it that your brain is underdeveloped resulting to a poor comprehension level. But to pair it with being delusional and a pathological liar, you’re really something, Robert.

And blaming the OQT schedule after being burned. Lol. You’re really full of shit you know.

          • For all the love of the 5 out motion offense in the modern era, the triangle still has its place.

A good balance of the two offensive system is a must.

Also with that kind of pressure Latvia implemented all game Scottie would have had a turnover galore. Newsome and Perez's cat-like agility and quickness were needed badly para matawid yung bola.

The thing with Perez is he can break the press consistently but brain turns off once he crosses half court. Tim Cone reminded him how important those two possessions he threw away in the first half, did it again in the second half. We got really lucky Latvia can't capitalize on our mistakes.
Brownlee knows CJ by now. Last game they had a connection resulting in a Brownlee layup. This game Brownlee drove and kicked out to CJ. CJ at this level needs separation with his 3 pt shot. So either he gets a screen or he is setup. But yes he is a more agile driver than Scottie. Scottie is basically a straight line driver. CJ needs more reps like this.

In seniors play, we will still need an inside presence on both ends.

                • Now I understand why Cone loves triangle and it showed in this game. “Triangle is an offense that it is easy to play defense in. Ultimately I am a defensive coach.” Even when there are many lulls in the scoring it was rare for our guys to be out of position in the defensive end. Part of it might be that it has its own deliberate pace. But I must say the bigs play a big part of it. Junemar had to fight tooth and nail for positioning to get the post pass to deliver the kick out pass.

For all the flak JMF has gotten internationally and rightly so his presence in the post in this system was very important. I dont think even Kai can replicate it.

                    • To be fair, this win needed two generational bigs to pull off: June Mar and Kai. I don't think there's any point in our basketball history that we have this much talent from our bigs. We also have GOAT import Brownlee to thank.

                      • Oftana did better on defense in this game. He had a clean swipe on a drive. On offense though he is over matched. He doesnt have the explosiveness of New or CJ. He doesnt have the strength of Dwight. His handles are weaker than the two. He is also too short to play SF at this level. So its hard to play him at this level unless he skills up his handles and quickens his release. To me Navarro would bring more to the table. Taller, longer and smoother laterally.

Yeah, his rotations were great. Didn't have to do much man-to-man, but he made timely rotations to shooters.

                          • It took a while before Latvia knew JMF was bad in the PNR. Latvia milked JMF in their comeback last night.

Expect Georgia to target JMF in the PNR. Also expect them to put the cuffs on Brownlee.

I think Gilas will struggle early vs Georgia tonight because of the short rest (Georgia had a day off). And that Georgia day off they had all day to scout our strengths and weaknesses.

Hoping we continue the same intensity and have a strong start like that in the Latvia victory.

                            • Georgia from what I’ve seen plays with more traditional big men, one of the things I saw Junmar do in the practice games was denying post passes for bigs which I think will be important. Their outside isn’t like Latvia but still deadly, defense has to be a premium

                              • edu fajardo was ideal pf roattion since tim cant use Cstan as his pf in gilas, guy is couple inch shorter but can go outside inside and play point forward well and at prime his motor would bother europeans
