To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

DR is all about KAT. Take out KAT, DR will take a dip in terms of competitiveness.
When the Golden Generation of Argentina retired, they struggled to stay relevant in recent years.
This is where Brazil is commendable - no letdowns despite of change of guard. I do believe that no one in Asia-Pacific can beat this team except Australia
they also lose to Puerto Rico and Mexico in World Cup qualifiers too… and you say they are better? Cmon…. Brazil got lucky last qualifiers (they have same fate as Iran in WC qualifiers, only save by the bell)…

I would consider picking Kouame over JC or JB. With Kouame and Edu there we can rotate them and have a good rim protector who is excellent at switching on the floor all the time. We dont need to play JF who always becomes target practice at this level. Kai would also be optional. Our SF, SG spot would be weaker but I think a rotation of Dwight, Newsome and Malonzo can be decent. Newsome proved he can be decent at the SF spot last Asian games.

Tagal pa kasi eh. Way too many things will happen before August. Gilas doesn't even have a coach, there could be a bunch of new and even returning faces to the program based on their performance in the PBA like Juan GDL and Caracut. Even Balanza is decent-sized for the FIBA game. Maybe try out Santillian as an undersized 3 or even a 4 the way Quiambao was at FIBA Asia. If JC gets a callback, I'd like to see Carl Tamayo because he spreads the floor better than every other big Gilas had (including RdO). We'll just have to wait for FIBA Asia Cup qualifying before looking ahead to the OQT.

The perfect big man rotation for Gilas is Kai and Kouame at 5,AJ at 4 with a backup from dual position Balthazar and Tamayo. That's the tallest and most skilled athletic big men frontline that Gilas can ever field.

I really can't see them bringing in outsiders to the pool unless they're trading for them soon. I don't trust them any more than I trusted MVP and his henchmen.
After June Mar, their cupboard of quality eligible bigs for FIBA is bare. Japeth's retired.

A full-strength Gilas team with proper international coaching will be competitive. Now, it's a matter of being able to win at least one vs Latvia or Georgia, then pull an upset against either Brazil or Montenegro and hope the final isn't against Latvia, if it is... maybe upset Latvia. If Clarkson wants to play, I have no doubt SMC will pay him whatever he was getting for the World Cup. Bahala na sila mag-usap. Kai is another story because it's really up to MVP's people who gave Kai and his family the whole kabuhayan plus package that PBA players normally get when they're retired. So all this talk about players asking for the moon has layers of value versus utang na loob attached to it. At the end of the day, we'll want to hear this "for the country" talk, but there are options ranging from who has been there before, who impresses, and who can actually make the team better.

This YouTuber thinks we should send a young squad for the OQT, similar to what sir DAdmiral said:
He says that we should send younger PBA players, the overseas guys, and some collegiate players.
Honestly, I agree to an extent. We just need some veterans that can still play in 2027. We should be able to balance development of a core, and ability to compete with world-level teams.
