wish previous coaches use fajardo’s mid range gaming more.. that’s what i said before that people choose to ignore.. that’s the untapped potential that fajardo unlocking in this stage of his career
Pre-injury he was so heavy he barely had enough lift. He was played exclusively in the paint despite showing early in his career he had a good perimeter touch. Internationally though he developed a single leg floater. It was perfect for his bulk and soft touch. But it stopped when he got a fracture on his leg and eventually broke it.

Post leg break, Junemar knew he couldnt bang in the paint all the time. So he started shooting more jumpers. He also got a bit lighter. It shows because he could dunk with ease. With the confidence of taking more jumpers in the PBA he is busting it out internationally. Lastly, he couldnt also show his improved defense because SMB needed him to play close to 40 minutes.

    • I still see a need for Balti. Tamayo, although great offensively, lacks the length to challenge at the rim. In this game Polish bigs easily shot over Tamayo. Also, as mentioned Balti can replace Japeth. Although shorter, he has good length to be a secondary rim protector. In this game you could see Japs minutes are restricted. Although still good in some plays he is an injury risk.

I believe that most players when they take their jump shots by leaping so high, nagiging less accurate yung tira nila. That's why usually a soft jumper is more accurate. Problem is, if you don't possess a significant height advantage over your defender, you'll be compelled to jump higher when releasing your jump shot.

He had a good running hookshot before that's pretty much unstoppable, why he gave up on that is a a mystery to me,that could have been his go to shot 10 ft out.

        • Kai needs to have more 4 skills. With his height anymore weight will slow him down. He wont be a Junemar who can seal his man. He needs to be able to shoot open perimeter shots. Also a turn around jumper might be good. His body and height is really close to Porzingis. If he can improve his perimeter shot it would really be a game changer.

          • it could be a reps/confidence thing for Junemar, I think he really came to his own in the international tournament during the world cup when he was bullying some world class centers down the paint

Remember that he's now 34 yrs old, yet it seems we've been seeing the best of Junmar Fajardo in Gilas uniform. Well, let us forget for a while that Junmar being a poor PnR defender. I want to talk about his offensive game, in particular his inside game.
He was always been good when given a chance. Back in the 2014 WC, a 21-year old JMF literally carried the Gilas against Senegal. He was not getting some chance in the next tournament because there was Blatche. Also Chot did not even bother to utilize both of them on the floor just like what CTC did him with Kai. Back in 2018, he was eating those NBL bigs on low post. Too bad that he is already 34 and we can't enjoy the things he can do internationally for long.

I hope Coach Tim won’t ride Jb, Dwight and Newsome till their wheels fall off. With the roster lacking depth for this level, it’s very likely. Too bad we’re playing back to back. Bottom line, bench must step up.
Its richards job now to walk the talk on Iran lile setting.. may team b ang iRan that plays in minor tournaments..

I dont know if Gilas can adapt the concept of select team that us implements... We put on ralph cu and gumaru as peactice players might ask pba board to supplant them.with young players and some.collegiate prospects
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
                1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

Question bro: Who will sponsor Gilas team-B or Gilas developmental team?

That would be an exciting idea - having a Gilas developmental team.

Well, you can’t blame Blatche… that time Junmar is almost not usable that time.. Blatche has little to no respect to Junmar.. w/c is fair observation… Junmar is just late bloomer type of player… even most of Filipino players are always late bloomer performer…

If he listen to Tab’s advice to less weight since 2016 then he might be a better player now than ever… he would not suffer many injuries if he listen to Tab’s advice before…

So far sga has been acting as a de facto team b for guys 13 above( i see heading as guy 13 waiting to be called up)

Well, Strong Group Athletics is focus on winnability that is why it wants to fill its roster with as many quality world imports. SBP's focus in organizing a national team-B or a cadet team should be development of young players. SGA would load its squad with as many as 3 to 4 quality world imports while I think in a Jones Cup type of tournament where our Gilas cadet can participate, having Kouame & just 1 world import wud be OK with us. We are not after for wins anyway, but the development of our young players.

The 3 is a key spot on defense. We need reliable defenders there.
                                100 %

Having Dwight as a combo guard is an advantage for us. The coaching staff should add other options for the 3 spot, preferably defensive wings who can shoot decently from the distance.

If Oftana flunks in Riga (especially on the defense), hopefully they will include Navarro and Tuffin to shore up the wing position. If only Tuffin is at least 6’5-6’6, he’s a no brainer because of his shooting. But for me Navarro is the perfect wing for Gilas. Size, length, laterals, knows his role very well and can knock down the occasional trifecta with a respectable percentage.
