Agree with you. Ironically our best wing defender in the Asian games was Newsome. He was the main defender among several against RHJ But he is 30 plus and he does give up a lot of height against big wings.

If Newsome played last FIBA World cup, he will be our main defender against Carlik Jones of SSD, Simon Fonteccio of Italy, The little guy from Angola (Dundao) and Jean Montero of DR.. He should be there rather than either Kiefer, Pogoy or Perez....

Many people here don't understand CTC's coaching Philosophy.. He would rather die together with his loyal soldiers rather than inserting new players but have no knowledge in his system... Triangle offense is hard to learn and getting new players is not so ideal w/ current situation of Gilas that still under PBA rule... Even me i want guys like Abando, Baltazar, etc... in this current roster but CTC has trust with those players... Let them be...

The issue I have right now is the roster construction. We don't have enough defenders in the perimeter and the interior. Right now nga, we can rely only on Newsome, Dwight, and JB on that end. If AJ goes down, we lose the balance in the roster.

Only hope now is that we have a defensive system that doesn't hemorrhage points, especially if AJ isn't with us, and that the players can rotate to compensate for the roster's lack of balance.

Unfortunately, PBA will not do that, that means Lucero is eligible to play in the B League.. If Lucero is eligible, he will not play in the PBA right away... Business decision on part of SBP / PBA... Cliff Hodge already reside here for 12 years but until now PBA / SBP not grant his exemption case...

Also SMC seems to have a good handling of their players because they manage to retain all of their players who were lure by lucrative offers from Japan/Korea (Japeth Aguilar / Calvin Abueva).

Still not sure, especially that their agents knows how big money overseas have...They can't even try to exempt guys like Cstand, Tautuaa or even Laput... SMC don't trust players just yet unless they are very very loyal such as Scottie, LA and Junmar...

I think CTC knows this already... Like i said in the past.. CTC is boiling within SBP / SMC orders and fans clamor... Oftana is one of the 1st choice of CTC, Perez is already part of CTC's Asian games campaign, Scottie is his 1st PG with his system... It's not easy to replace them because those guys are loyal soldiers of CTC, They know his system, those players willing to die for him... We can tap the likes of Abando, Heading, Balti, etc, But they are willing to be part of his system? It's easy to say Yes, But that is not we saw from their body language (or just their agents and SBP / SMC management have no mutual agreement)... I also want additional players but you know CTC... He only trust players who already knows his system... CTC is not type of coach that trust new players right away... Just look at his PBA stints? How many rookies that CTC trust since he starts coaching here? Only little.. Only Abbarientos, Cortez, Barroca, Sanggalang and Scottie are only rookies drafted with him that give right away trust in their rookie stints (Maybe i can add Cablay and Cu too)... Even he trust more Brownlee than Clarkson, A legit NBA caliber player...
