Correct. I feel that this should be our plays. Like how PHX suns did in Nash era. I don't think we will have opportunities to score under triangle offense.

      • Sadik Rr Pogoy over Heading really? Just because Arakji blew by Heading you dont want him? Do you think Pogoy will be better? Open your eyes. Pogoy is slow laterally and cannot really dribble. He cant even shoot consistently against this comp. Heading averaged over 10 pts in that tourney at high efficiency. He is not a natural PG but he can play PG. He took over the PG role for Strong group when Moore got injured and he was decent particularly playing pick and roll with Howard. What can your Pogoy do? Heading’s defense isnt even that bad. He is not a stopper but he is not the turnstile you make him be. He has good fundamentals and decent effort on defense like the other non shooting aspects like rebounding and facilitating. What did Pogoy do in the WC? Heading is a better shooter than Pogoy and better in all other aspects at this level. This is not the PBA.

I neither like Pogoy btw, But how are we complain against Tim cone? if Tim Cone sees Pogoy is better than Heading then that is what it is… CTC much like 2 way players… Better develop taller players that can shoot the lights out such as Amos or Quiambao as our shooters…

Lols… again you hallucinating… If your Heading is good, he will have offers from big leagues in Asia.. this year he can’t find a team from either KBL, P league or KBL… And if he’s good, CTC will take him as priority same as Ramos, Kai, Edu or Tamayo…!

              • Why do we keep inviting the same ineffective players over and over again? Remember when Pogoy even sucked in the SEA games? And he's now older and has had multiple injuries/ ailments. Not really sure what the plan is unless he's just going to mentor the young guys / for practices

Let's just hope that FIBA 2023 WC Pogoy shows up, BTW can Gilas even add him to the official roster? I thought the pool was already submitted and we are stuck to the players listed. (similar to Nenad's Gilas roster years back).

edit: forgot that i retired from criticizing Pogoy after his heart issues last year.

For CTC and Long Hair,Pogoy is better than Heading, because he's not associated with Mr Lao.

His performance surprised me though it could honestly be fools gold. That's the thing given his health issues and that he's older now, are we really in need of another six foot something wing who cannot handle the ball?

No idea if they can still add him

                      • People we should learn by now that being a member of any national or Gilas team has always been by INVITATION. The coach has always the final say who he wants in the pool/team and it is usually a player who is familiar and fits the system. Other consideration is player availability.

The selection process has never been democratic. This also goes for other national teams and other sports.

The federation may also have a say in the formation of the team. Case in point in the latest controversy in Women’s USA basketball team for the Paris Olympics where rookie sensation Caitlin Clark was left out. The most sentiments being said that Clark has to earn and prove herself first in the WNBA. Easily Clark is the hottest commodity right now in the WNBA because of her achievements in college. Clark’s professional debut was the most watched WNBA game since 2001.

WNBA star Caitlin Clark's exclusion from the 2024 Olympics sparked disappointment among many basketball fans, but others tell Fox News Digital they understand.

The Indiana Fever rookie was part of the WNBA All-Star team that beat Team USA in a matchup earlier this month.

I remember in the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship during the Iran vs. Gilas game, the TV panelist was saying like " Mehdi Kamrani couldn't guard Jayson Castro. But then who does?"

The same could also be true about Wael Arakji who is considered as Asia's best point guard at present. Who can guard Arakji right now?

We can't blame Jordan Heading that much being blown by Arakji in the Dubai tournament early this year.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Dunno much about women's basketball but how strong is the US NT? Are they like us who cannot afford to not pick the best players available? Clark from what I read is having an up and down season. The goal is to win not to attract viewers.. Can she even displaced people playing her position? Not really familiar with their history but the men's team has had untested Anthony Davis and Laettner but they were just ornaments for their respective teams

And womens tournament are getting competitive these days too... They just won by 2 pts only vs Belgium last February... They can't afford to lose, It seems they still thinking of Noah Lyles statement of being "World champions" even just being a national league champs, Boston Celtics was criticized after telling themselves as "World champions"... France is also strong this year plus they have their crowd... Clark can have her time... Maybe by 2026 FIBAWWC in Germany... Hoping for Gilas womens qualify for the World cup too that time...
