Can Canada beat USA with this line-up?
In a FIBA setting format, Canada have a chance... FIBA games are not series anyway... Current USA line up will not be beaten in a series game... But anything can happen in a FIBA setting format that one lose, you die format.. Chemistry wise, Canada have the edge already, Most of them already played together last year...

    • There goes the Canada discussion again. Historically they were underachievers and can’t win despite having a loaded lineup.

They won bronze medal last year and that is already an achievement, for a team that their last major achievements in any basketball competitions was 1930s… it’s not easy to commit players who are in the NBA, especially they have to pay every insurance of every NBA players that the country is more focus on ice hockey, the budget for basketball in Canada is not big… so I don’t think they are underachievers… think about the cause of their failures in the past… atleast now they pull it together… in terms of talent, they still the 2nd loaded international talents in basketball after USA…

This drama can be avoided when players show up for the games and practices. I don’t care if Sotto signs a G-League contract and has to fly trans-Pacific twice in 4 days, KQ loses his Razon money, Amos becomes the next Troy Rosario, Tamayo ends up playing in the MPBL, and the PBA creates another one of those special conferences or drafts they always do for lack of flexibility. These players commited to Gilas for 4 years and I expect nothing less. Otherwise, it’s just lip service.

Turkey is the little bit surprised for me because they have no team for OQT… but they still active for some tune up games for their future tournaments… maybe they can find atleast 2 more European teams to be play before OQT… even the likes of Portugal or Macedonia are enough already… the competition in Europe is so competitive… their weakest teams in Europe can beat majority of Asian teams…

Why not ask Ange's team to have a tuneup with them,we can actually see a Ange vs Kai game.

I don’t know if the league that Ange is playing is still on going… but it is a good idea…

SBP should now also start the road for Ange's exception in FIBA.

You want FIBA to recognise him as a local when local leagues in the Philippines don't recognise him as a local?
that's a nice gesture if they do that.

                        • were really hoping those Grandpas may somehow tweak a little bit their age old eligibility rules on aspiring Filipino players who wants to play in the so-called oldest pay for play league here in Asia.

Haven't they tweaked it enough? It's already down to 19 with 2 years of college ball to 22 for those Fil-Ams who were in JuCo hell with no more age limit. The issue now is accepting draft applicants that have played pro 3 years abroad because it'll entail another one of those special draft bullshits where a Thirdy, Abando, Ramos, Alvano, Belangel, Abbarientos, Gutang, Dave Ildefonso, or Satan forbid... a Kai Sotto will end up in Ginebra ot TNT after another one of those lopsided trades post-conference.

As fucking stupid as the PBA was, teams are past the point of drafting 24-year olds and keeping them on the bench while they develop their 27-year old young player by sharing minutes with their 30-year old starter while making sure their 34-year old 10 year veteran is getting paid like an All-Star... the fact of the matter of that the league is fighting for survival after years of eating their own shit.

It's actually better for Philippine basketball that those who know their value play abroad where they play more games, get better training, and are exposed to higher levels of competition. Maiwan na dito ang latak.
