To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
    1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

Bro, there's no such thing as luck with them, this is their bread and butter, it's part of their system, something that is alien to our local coaches.
maybe what he was trying to say is for the past 2 games, Italy can't hit the three consistently but tonight everything is falling, they got the same kind of looks especially against Angola but its just brick after brick , that even people here were wondering what happened to their shooting , against angola it was 5/31 against dominican it was 7/29 , it's not that all shots were contested they also had several open looks , 12/60 in the first 2 games to 17/41

Only Edu among the bigs was playable. All the rest were not. Which is why we saw Edu at 5, JC or Malonzo at 4 for long stretches.

They're gonna chucking up threes regardless because that's what their whole system is based on. Having a shooting slump is totally normal. The way they execute their plays are all calculated, their positioning, and extra passes are sight to behold. Luck has nothing to do with it.

Everytime Junemar played there was an open 3. Japeth only played a few minutes to rest Edu. Couldnt play him much because no offense.

They can hit better because our defense sucks, they make it sound like Italy is casting fucking magic instead of running plays and executing it well, it's basketball.

Took the coaching staff an entire half to figure out Italy is weak on the interior. No scouting whatsoever. Coaching staff is a bunch of dimwits.
We dont really have good slashers aside feom JC and Dwight. And Junemar surrendered a 3 for every 2 he helped generate.

Japs is pushing 40 and past his prime already, that uber athleticism with high motor is long gone. Junmar did great in the first but has been non existent in the last two matches.

i'm just trying to give context on what he said, like what i said they ran they same place and got the same looks in the first two games but shots are not falling, and what an unfortunate time for gilas that the italy's shot from the three started to fall consistently this game, if they had the same percentage today in the first 2 games they will blow Angola out and will beat Dominican Republic

                      • i'm sure ill get crucified by saying these things but ...

considering we never got blownout in the 3 games despite the perceptions that chot sucked at coaching is a surprise to me

what would have happened if people put on hold the criticism of chot while he was preparing for and during the actual games? would chot and the coaches for that matter be more inspired and motivated with the support?

did the toll of being crucified, made fun of and being bashed daily on socmed finally caught up with chot thereby affecting him and making his coaching worse?

i just can't fathom the fact that we weren't blownout despite having - as many expert gilas fans say - a bad coach. maybe instead of bashing him for the last 18 months we could've just supported him in a more positive way and laid off the bashing - maybe the results would've been different.

                        just my two cents

Was he criticized too harshly too when lost the gold to Indonesia? Or when he made questionable pool selections? How about preparations?

Everyone including their Grandmas can smell the disaster coming from a mile away and voiced their concerns but what adjustments did they do? Can you really blame the fans? We deserved better after supporting this team for more than a decade now. We know the problems surrounding our NT and Chot, long hair, Vargas, Joke, Panlilio etc are part of it

Chot has been given charity since basketbrawl, Douthit fiasco, 32 point lost to Korea, 20 point beatdown from Japan and the crowning jewel, the lost to Indonesia. The best analogy really with retaining Chot is that SBP doesn't believe smoking causes cancer until they're actually dying from cancer that developed from smoking.

i'm not questioning or challenging that we have problems with the basketball program

all im saying is that instead of pinoys bashing and bashing and bashing and bashing and bashing and bashing .... maybe we should've just laid off all the negativity and supported the coach and hoped for the best.

again i'm just coming from a position wherein a supposed incompetent coach who got bashed and ridiculed for 18 months and who didn't do adjustments and was borderline not coaching lost by 6, 10 and 7 pts vs world class teams. maybe things would've been different if we just laid off the bashing, booing and basically all the negativity until the time the tournament ended.

Let's give you a construction worker analogy here if it's more suited for you. Say every worker in a construction site knows that a crane is slow and dangerous, would you just "support" the crane manufacturer and "hope for the best" knowing how much inefficiency the crane causes in the work place and possible fatalities associated with it? That's a better analogy than your ship one
