dallas mavericks just drafted a big man in 7 foot derek lively from duke. mavs have maxi klebber, javale mcgee, christian wood and dwight powell as their big men.

homer sayson previously claimed mavs will allocate kai a spot in summer league play. this is tough to overtake those guys for an nba roster spot.

if we just limit to Summer league, Kai can play off the bench for Lively. but getting into the team is now harder. there is a chance they let go of Wood but still same problem. who knows, 1 step at a time. maybe he do well and get a summer invite that would hopefully turn to a 10day or 2 way? but yeah, cracking the actual team will be harder now.

An interesting note. The third 7-footer taken in the draft after Wemby and Lively, 19 year old James Nnaji averaged only 3 points and 2 rebounds in the Spanish league. He took only two jumpers the entire season. All of his shots are putback dunks, tip-ins. According to the NBA analyst he is obviously an upside pick.

His strengths are his motor, strength and athleticism. Something our Kai Sotto has little of in his body. Lol.

Decorated US NCAA big men Oscar Tshiebwe and Drew Timme left undrafted. Last year Kofi Cockburn, another big man from US NCAA, also went undrafted. Cockburn recently signed in Japan.

It proves that it is very hard to get in the NBA despite being a decorated collegians. It is also noteworthy that they are traditional big men.

From out of nowhere, the Bulls traded two future 1nds for the 35th pick, and used it to select Julian Phillips from Tenneessee. A 6'7"-6'8" wing with a 7-foot wingspan, good slasher, and good defender. He shot 24% from 3, though. Good news is, he shot 83% from the foul line and is only 19, so there's a lot of room to grow.

Bulls have a lot of project picks. Patrick Williams, Ayo Dosunmu, Dalen Terry, and now Phillips. Hope they pan out.

Utah just gave 6 players, including clark, summer league invites. FYI, im looking at the undrafted tracker so Kai will not show in this list because he is not undrafted for this year

if there’s 1 team that I’m rooting for at the Western Conference it’s always been coach Pop and idol Tim because of it’s system and culture. Even though I’m a Steve Kerr and a Klay Thompson fan boy because of the system they’re implementing but the Spurs will always be my West Team. With Wemby being the team’s numero uno from this edition of the Draft, I will temper my expectation for now because he ain’t proven anything yet on the same level as idol Tim.
I ain’t ridin’ on the Wemby bandwagon nowadays, too much passenger in the bus makes me feel uncomfy, I’d rather root on the guys who’s not in overall radar, young dudes that I've been watching for quite sometimes now…the likes of 6’8 SF Jarace Walker of the Cougars that was picked 8th by Wiz but eventually shipped at Indiana, 6’8 Guard Jeff Howard of the Wolverines that was a 11th pick overall by the Magic and 6’7 do it all Jaime Jacquez, Jr. of the Bruins that was pick 18th by the Heat.

I'm seeing the Bulls sign projects again. We need to develop them, give them time. This fanbase, jeez. I dunno what they want.

Anyways, I'm reading that Sanogo's a good post scorer, and has good length. Might need to improve some on defense, though.
