Rob Parker's athleticism and overall offensive quality was unmatched by any local. He was like the Vince Carter of the PBA back then with his high-flying acts, which he also took to his lone PBA slam dunk contest participation. Even his defense was underrated. I remember during a game vs. the then-dynastic Alaska, a prime Devin Davis struggled against him, having 3 (or probably more) of his shots emphatically swatted away. Partnered with Kwan Johnson along with the solid local support of Limpot, Espino, Orquillas, et al., the PBA crowd during that 1999 Commissioner's Cup was bedazzled by the suddenly-dangerous Sta. Lucia Realtors team.

Too bad, he got the ire of the league's traditionalists/nationalists during one of the most difficult periods for any Fil-foreign player playing in the PBA. His on/off court attitude (shouting match with his coach, altercation with a female celeb who I can't remember her name, and some other issues i can't recall) didn't help his case either.

      Sir Rodbi,

I've been watching awhile ago the Power N' Play portion wherein the old-timers are discussing the good ole days and the current PROBLEM our beloved PBA are facing unfortunately a brown struck our place during the entire tv show

they're talking about their era about Jaworski, Fernandez, Atoy, Bogs, Francis among others and how impactful those legends until now.

as for me, as a 90's kid the likes Menk, Alvarado, Clay, Hatfield, Abuda, Belasco, Harp, Kerby, Lago, Samboy, the Dann'ys, Rob Parker, Asi, Kwan, Terq, Devin, Chambers, Alaska team, 99 Tanduay team, 99 SMB, Strothers, Ken Travis etc. and those you mentioned are the personalities that still inculcated in my mind...that mayabang Vince St. Price shout "Parker to Johnson alley-op slam!! still lingering in the back of my head until now.

as I said, it seems odd and unpopular esp. to those purist...if only those stakeholders had this vision about globalization at that time we could somehow get some attention considering all those guys if my memory serves me right ALL OF THEM ARE WILLING TO REPRESENT the 3 Stars and a Sun..it's just that we are living in an unperfect world and issues about shams are very touchy during that time.

anyway, pass is pass it's just that the current situation about our beloved league are worrisome that is why we can't help but TO REMINISCE THE GOOD OLD DAYS.

but UNFORTUNATELY some people are taking it for granted. "bawi naman ang investment pagdating ng semis at championship games, ok lang yan.".

andyan naman si Barangay Tagay eh no prob.

rob parker made duremdes look like a scrub while menk/taulava exposed marlou aquino’s lack of speed, laterals, footwork and work ethic

no wonder those 2 were the leaders of the anti fil-am/fil-sham movement

espino and ildefonso i think were the only local bigs who can hang with the fil-ams back in the day

Menk and Hatfield considers Dennis as having one of the strongest core base for a homegrown player despite not being a gym rat.
