  • It's good that POC President Bambol Tolentino is exposing SBP's incompetence so that the public would be more aware.

If the Phi Senate has a Robin Padilla, Phi basketball has an Al Panlilio. Its just unfortunate that Panlilio's gross incompetence isn't that exposed to the public.

"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

    • If ever Gilas brings home a medal from this Asiad, Al Panlilio has nothing to do with it. He should not be part of whatever success Gilas may achieve becoz he has done nothing for the betterment of Philippine basketball. In fact all he has done were detrimental to Phi basketball.

          • The oligarch really knows what is happening on the ground so if ever some statements blurted out from any media platforms that he is not fully aware of many things within his backyard is 100% lie. Besides he already releases several statements before just to cover up the incompetencies of his minions but still no drastic actions are taken.

            Who's fooling who?

            • The Philippines is bracketed with Jordan in Pool A along with Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, and Mongolia.

A top finish in its group will have the Filipinos advancing outright to the knockout quarterfinals, while a second place finish relegates them to a qualification for a final shot of advancing to the playoffs.

The team plays its first game on Monday against Jordan at the Deqing Geographic Information Park Basketball Court.

I don’t know who these players are. Any good? What are their heights?

If passport only will implement… other Asian teams can use two naturalized players or more… I don’t like that rule honestly… I think we are only ones who bring two naturalized player here… Jordan can use both Tucker and RHJ for this event but they didn’t because it will deteriorate their basketball development… How about Indonesia? Did they use all of their naturalized players? They have a chance to beat Japan and even Korea, If all of their naturalized players will play (prosper, bolden and beane)… with just only OCA rules, even lower seeded teams will have a chance because of passport rule only… Just hire Americans to represent their nation and they will be competitive already… this is not good… they blaming Indonesia and Cambodia last seagames because they using 2-6 imports to play for them and here we are, we are doing the same thing… that’s why I hate those people mocking fans from Indonesia and Cambodia, whereas we are doing the same thing right now….

So for instance if Gilas emerges as the No. 1 team in Group C, it will automatically be going to the quarterfinals & wud be facing the winner of the No. 2 team of group A (most likely Sauudi Arabia) vs. No. 3 team of group B (most likely Mongolia) game. Hence, this would be an easier route for Gilas.

If Gilas settles as the No. 2 team in Group C, we will face the No. 3 team of Group D (either Indonesia or Qatar) in the qualification for the quarterfinals game. If we win that game, we will be facing the No. 1 team of Group A which most likely would be Iran, in the quarterfinals. Now, I would always prefer facing Iran in the quarters than facing host China or Korea. I just feel that Gilas has the edge over the current Iran team which no longer has Hamed Haddadi & Samad Bahrami in its fold.
If OCA rules, Indonesia might have a shot to get that top seed in their group… because of passport rule only, Prosper, Beane and Bolden can play together in one team… that’s tough… Or even Qatar, they can hire 12 mercenaries and give them passport then that’s it… OCA rules sucks… we have monitor those teams… because of that rule, they can put multiple naturalized players in their roster…

                      • Our womens 3x3 team is in danger of pulling out of the competition

Coach Patrick Aquino is keeping his fingers crossed that Cielo Pagdulagan and Marga Villanueva will be cleared heading to the team’s opening game against Jordan on Monday at the Deqing Geographic Information Park Basketball Court.

The two players are being tapped to take over the spot of regulars Camille Clarin and Angel Surada.

If the request is denied, the team will be left with only Camille Nolasco and Louna Ozar as players.

“Still waiting for the appeal,” said Aquino.

The Filipina cagebelles are bracketed in Pool C together with Jordan, Hong Kong, and Mongolia,

well, in theory we could also field a super OP lineup using the OCA rules, SBP just didnt do enough due diligence (in short natutulog nanaman sa kangkungan)

in theory we could have fielded Cstan, Ange,JB, Pringle and Mikey as starting 5, if Blatche is still in game shape he could have been a 6th man.
