He said it here, he suggested Chot because he didnt want to coach the next window. The SBP didnt want to deal with a coach who would only coach under certain conditions, obviously one being roster availability. Maybe resign is too rough a word but at best he wanted a sabbatical and was fired.

EDIT: BTW when I say I want MVP out, obviously everyone below him goes down too. Al, Chot, Josh, the whole crew. But accountability starts at the top

    • im not buying whatever SBP is saying about Romeo and Mo. will believe it once the full story is out. but the Abueva and Perkins sounds legit so far. why would the organizer bend if we gave 60-man list and cant get replacement from that list? even if the there was a change in coach, thats still 60-man. not their problem the new coach dont like the names. i refuse to think that SMC does not have a backup plan. from the beginning they knew "makikiusap sila" for abueva and perkins. they already they there is a chance they wont be allowed. so we have 12 man right now plus pringles. if abueva and perk cant go, pringle joins and we have an 11man team. cguro naman, they can get 1 name from whoever is left in that 60man list just to close it out. they can go with 11 as well. so no reason to not go and cry like little children because we didnt get what we want.

if romeo and mo are not allowed, we should still be able to get replacement from that 60man list. its smc decision if they dont want to use who are in the .list.

      • I really hope that Justine Baltazar is in the list and Cone gets him as a replacement. That would be a feel good story for Balti.

I read somewhere that 30 of the 60 are PBA players. If half of the players are out or injured. 15 man pool still is a good pool to choose from.

        It is not too late.

It's not in Cone, Alfrancis, RSA to backout.

Aside from UAAP and NCAA seaso about to start, SMC doesn't want to risk it at the Asian Games, knowing that Tim Cone and Long Hair does not have a good history regarding player development and using young players (with a few exceptions of course, Scottie, Mariano, Tolentino were developed by Cone)

LOL too rough of a word wow you really are a piece of work... Just swallow your useless pride and admit you were wrong when you proudly claimed Baldwin resigned lol. And quit the backpedaling everyone here knows what you are, you are nothing more but a chot fanboy despite him hi jacking the Gilas program to stroke his ego. And now with his latest screw up regarding the 60 man pool you still wont hold him accountable but rather direct the blame to MVP who made it clear that once he appointed Panlilio as the next president after he stepped down Panlilio was in charge and makes all the decisions.

And oh you failed to mention your poster boy Choke refused to coach a FIBA window as well since he wanted to focus on TNT when it made the playoffs, double standards much?

            • Let's do the math here (about the 60-man pool/list):

Let's say the list included 10 college players (Oh please don't tell me they included as many as 20 or more college players!). Of course included in the list most likely are those B-league Gilas players - Dwight, Parks, Kiefer, Thirdy, Kai, Edu, & KBL guy Rhenz Abando, so that's a total of 18 players. Then who are the other 42 players?

Safe to assume that the 42 other players (more or less) are from the PBA. But why are the names of Abueva & Perkins not there? I mean if we name the even top 30 players in the PBA today, it would be hard to imagine Calvin Abueva's name won't be in that list. Likewise it would be hard to imagine as well that if we are to name the top 40 players in the PBA, Jason Perkins' name won't be on that list.

So how come SBP that those guys' names aren't on that 60-man list? Now we ask, why is the SBP apprehensive in divulging to the public the names of the players in the 60-man list? May tinatago? Takot silang mabuking na merong mga marginal & bench-warmer PBA players on the list?

This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Ay wag na tayong umasa pa doon bro! Coach Chot & SBP doesn't like Baltazar. Its pretty obvious naman. Remember how coach Tim explained that he was made to believe by the SBP that Baltazar was invited to the Gilas World Cup pool when in truth & in fact, Baltazar never got an invitation? SBP doesn't like Baltazar to be part of Gilas. It doesn't get any more obvious than that.

U mentioned, 30 of the 60 players on that list are PBA players, its hard to believe that of the 30 players named in the list, Abueva's name wasn't included.

                I bet Baltazar & Bolick's name aren't in the mahiwagang 60-man list.

Chino Trinidad mentioned majority of the players included in that 60 man pool came from the collegiate leagues. I think the chinese will stand firm on their decision and Long hair might force CJ Perez to join the team to round out their numbers. Mikey Williams might be included in that list but word is he isnt in game shape at all since he is still in the US.

That brings us to likely 7 players.

At least there is a press con....parang we never had any presscon in Chot's days.

Lebanon just withdrew from Asian games basketball competition.

Maybe the presscon would be to announce our withdrawal as well? Hope not.

Lassiter should be called into service.

                          • I think and I fear this is to pull out of the Asian Games.. poor planning resulting to no players.. unfortunate..

you would not schedule a press conference like that if it isn't a big issue.. are we having a press conference to announce additional players? nope.. I fear this is to pull out...

very sad for an inept federation.. but luckily would not affect FIBA since this is non-sanctioned..

                            • I hope SBP is only just playing a prank on us about the ruckus on the Asiad roster, and come clean later that everything about the Philippine contingent roster is A-OK and that the Pinoy basketball fans should have nothing to worry about.
