Same case with Kiefer before, It will no effect unless other players too will be positive in any Prohibited drug use disallowed by WADA.... JB will be suspended for 2 years (as per Tiebreaker Times) in any basketball activities, including PBA career....

When they say anything basketball-related, does that mean that even in coaching (if ever SMC gives him a position in the coaching staff in the next 2 years), he'll also be banned?

After a thorough analysis (in my humble comprehension of things) of Articles 11.2 & 11.3, I think Article 11.3 gives right to the ruling body of an event (in this case HAGOC for the 2023 Asian Games) the right or privilege to modify or tweak the "penalty" or sanction/s against the violator/s of the anti-doping rule. But I think Article 11.3 doesn't give the right or privilege to HAGOC to modify or tweak the provision of Article 11.2 which states that at least 3 players of a team must be found positive for doping for an organizing committee to merit disqualification or forfeiture of won games or medal/s of the team involved. Meaning hindi pweding halimbawa only1 player ng isang basketball team being found positive for doping eh may rights na yung HAGOC to forfeit the won games or medal of that team.

That's how I understand it. Please somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

What is ironic with WADA and their list of Prohibited stuff....they don't allow Cannabis, but they allow caffeine drinks and all those super overdosed sugary energy drinks which have a more pronounced effect on an athlete more similar to performance enhancing drugs than Cannabis or medical marijuana which is more of a downer and pain reliever. LOL!

If 3 months only then it is yes, since he was caught positive on October 7 and if it is 3 months then the suspension will be last until January 7 2024… so he can play… but we have to remember, he can’t play any basketball related activities for that span even recreational games that will cause him uncondition when he comes back… and Bell was tested positive in USA.. cannabis is legal in US.. so the penalty is lower… but because he was tested positive in China, cannabis is illegal in China, that means suspension might not just only 3 months…

Good point but i hope its not that long not more than a year and hopes he can still play in the OQT

hmmmm, if this is legit, I suspect this is related to his injury and surgery during the world cup build up. he might have taken some pain killers to ease the pain from his surgically repaired injury.. and the doctors and he himself deemed what he is taking as legal and ok.. just my hunch..

anyways, unfortunate for brownlee.. he might be suspended for a long time and not being able to play for any league.. that would greatly affect his income and finances for his family.. unless Ginebra and the San Miguel group help him..

The very likely scenario here. SMC has jumped through hoops to have him naturalized and have him available for BGSM for the last 7+ years to great successes in the basketball aspect, so it's only fitting that they support him. There's a strong clamor for marijuana legalization in the PHL these days anyways so his transgression, I think, can be forgiven.
