that would be a sad day indeed for the chua haters and tab ****riders
If PBA/SMC-led Gilas medals in this Asian Games, that will be great ofcourse because I'm a Filipino. However, that does not change the fact that BCAP should liberalize their policy towards foreign coaches and PBA with regards to Fil-Fors (especially those considered locals by FIBA), naturalized players and imports.

A request from the Philippine Federation has arrived and is requesting the approval of Jung Kwan Jang for Rhenz Abando's participation in the Asian Games. From the officials of JKJ, if Abando is part of the roster in Hangzhou, they will allow him

              • This team should play at least 3 games as a complete team before they fly out to china..

my suggestion is for SBP to organize tune-up games against Ateneo, La Salle and UP.. these UAAP teams are already complete and raring to go as the UAAP season would start also almost the same time as the Asian Games.. UAAP teams are fast-paced teams with enough talent, and they follow FIBA rules..

my worry is not about Tim Cone coaching these players, because he know very much the capabilities of these players, having coached them before OR going up against them multiple times watching film.. what worries me are the players playing with each other.. so this is a perfect training ground to play as a team..

this would be "ideal" considering the time constraints..

Well the good thing is the players named so far arent new to playing with each other since all were part of the World cup pool and were part of that european training camp.

we just need talented and skilled players (of course wag naman napakaliit) period... Japan is not a tall team, heck they have 2 below 6 feet guards who played well and no 7 footers.. and yet they are the most successful Asian team in the FIBA World Cup.. because they are skilled and played within the system..

so whoever is the best skilled and talented player for the team, let's go for it..

a 6'9 center is fine with me basta strong and skilled.. a 6'4" 6'5" wing player is fine, even a 5'10" guard is ok with me basta skilled and talented.. of course heady as well..

I think the Kouame situation is that he is going to sign with the Euro club, but once he signs, he would want to make sure he can still play for Gilas.. me thinks that is the case..

Yup, there's a built in chemistry among the players of the Asiad roster since almost all of them (except Arvin Tolentino) are part of the Gilas World Cup pool. Guys like Brownlee, Newsome, CJ Perez & Oftana were part of the 2023 SEA Games roster aside from being part of the World Cup pool, hence familiarity with one another won't be a problem. The only challenge wud be on how the players adapt & assimilate with coach Tim's system. The good thing is, we got a No. of Ginebra players in the Asiad roster so this aspect would help.

We also have to take note, this is just Asian level basketball, hence we can get away with being slightly undersized in some positions.

I think Cone is negotiating to get Lassiter and Standhardinger in. If Malonzo is fit to play, he will come in
