Yes. I guess that’s another reason they call it the death 5. You cannot sub out unless you die. I dont have access to old games but I clearly remember JF being allowed to semi handcheck a driving Castro. I think thats the primary reason SMB was able to consistently defeat TNT.

    • Apparently, Kiefer is now back in Japan. So I guess he is one name that will be replaced come Thursday, I'm really hoping Terrence would get another chance just to finally see if he can still be an asset in an international level.

      • I want Aaron Black to replace Kiefer just in case.

                  Me too.
I think its logical that we inject some younger blood in the Asian Games Gilas pool. Also worth consideration is 6-foot-2 combo guard Alec Stockton who is only 25 years old (not so young but at least hasn't reached his peak & is bound for more improvement). I also would like players like incoming rookie Schonny Winston & Ken Tuffin to be on the pool.

Like I always say, we must find the right balance between winnability & player development. Hindi pwede yung puro winnability lang iniisip natin.

Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

                  • Sayang I just have supplied Kai and Edu a Justin brownlee a point guard and another two way veterans corer (lassiter) we would have be enough to gauge how far we've gone in asia..
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
                    1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

Even Gian Mamuyac, Tyler Tio, Jeo Ambohot and Justin Arana. We need these guys to be exposed. These are the younger ones in the PBA today.

But the thing is he was born here in the Philippines. Were his parents already Canadian citizens prior to his birth or subsequent? Also, I thought Canada allows dual citizens, doesn't it?

if he was born here then fiba won't care if he got his passport after 16, he's automatically eligible

As in the case of Matt Ganuelas-Rosser & Justin Melton. These players were born here in the Philippines & if I'm not mistaken, they obtained Phi passport after their respective 16th birthdays. These players are FIBA eligible

                              • Asked if Cone - who has come out to say he has no interest in taking over the Gilas job - can be prevailed upon to take over the coaching reins, even just for the Asian Games campaign, another source said: "Malamang, kapag napa-oo."

However, any changes to Gilas' composition will be useless unless Tolentino is able to convince the Hangzhou Asiad organizing committee to accept the new insertions to the roster amid concerns of 'opposition' from the host nation.

Although the Asiad's eligibility rules are less stringent than Fiba's, cases of the host country unilaterally changing the rules are not uncommon.

One such case happened in the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon when Gilas was left with no choice but to replace Andray Blatche with Marcus Douthit when the Olympic Council of Asia cited a 'three-year residency period' in the eligibility requirements.

Tolentino said that the final DRM in Hangzhou on September 17 would determine if the changes will be approved or not.

“The POC has already advised the HAGOC of the possible changes in the composition of the Philippine delegation and let’s hope that the changes would be approved,” Tolentino said. “But we are insisting hard.”
