Wow!!! now I am seeing in social media that some people are ok and fine and think there is nothing wrong with players being paid to play for their national team! Wow!!!!

I mean, yes players should be given athlete's allowance and some form of insurance for their play.. but to flat out ask an exorbitant amount is just wrong especially if it is masked by so called "love for the country"..

now I understand why Alfrancis Chua even before the Asian Games was telling media that the players chosen didn't ask for anything.. I think those 2 players triggered him.. it is just Ricky Vargas who just had the balls to stir the pot and tell the story..

Also, from the press conference, I noticed that it was Ricky Vargas who called the specific players and not Alfrancis Chua.. this means they come from the MVP group.. so Mikey Williams yes.. another player from the MVP camp.. it is not Kai Sotto for sure.. alam naman na ng lahat he was paid for the World Cup appearance.. what's new.. so this is a different player coming from the MVP camp.. not Balti as Tim Cone said he will not choose him from the very first conference.. so another fil-am for sure from the MVP Camp..

If indeed that it was Mikey Williams that Vargas is throwing under the bus then we can expect him not to win any major awards in the PBA. Heck once his contract is up with TNT he most likely wont resign with the MVP group and might jump ship to the SMC group or even leave the country and play else where

I think they will patch things up and Mikey prime years will still be spent in tnt or in Gen San Warriors team as he is pacman boy. Thus is just an unpopular move by vargas that the new Gilas will not shell out huge money just to get guys play for nt..the players management just do its diligence they couldve been more patient and discreet unluckily there is a stooge that you cant trust that can throw you under the bus whenever he wanted to..why whine on it now when were winning why not divulge how really much we pay to get our foreign based players pay..

The manager would react teh same because for what he ehard in basketball circles it was the norm it was just some one who will spill it up make it bad for him..thats why smc is reluctant to handle this Gilas team how can they handle the clarksons and kai sotto's(wassermans) in the future

well it all depends on what chua and ctc needs. if they deemed they needed sotto and jc, i think they will shell out the money provided everyone gets paid as well. but then again, due to the selflessness of the golden team, it think they will have a hefty payout from RSA and MVP combined.

Mikey is already in tail end of his career… I don’t think any Asian leagues or smc will take him… actually I don’t care if he doesn’t want to play for gilas.. he’s not part of it in the first place and Gilas can find better players than him anyway… and anyone has a right to decline to play for gilas or wants a paycheck for playing in gilas… that is their rights… we are no North Korea that is under dictatorship… SMC people also did this in 2015, when they declined coach tab to play for gilas, that cause our chance to get a spot in 2016 Olympics… but did we hear coach tab blamed any pba personnel or smc for not playing for gilas? Question...this money that was supposed to be paid to the players, where will it come from? Since the deal did not go through, where did the money go? Some were ready to pay, so that means there was money.

The players and the public are being conditioned to be selfless and play for free. Again when they do play for free, where will the money go?

Hopefully there's a benevolent official that is investing that money prudently so that in the future when a national athlete is in need (similar to Samboy) there are funds ready to make sure they are taken care of. Fortunately, Samboy's ex-wife is very well-off.

Guys like Mascarinas have to use their own money to help former national athletes who have fallen in hard times, because so many of them are neglected in old age.
