Some national teams in other countries only get per diem only. So it really is dependent on players and agents

      • Well it safe to say that SBP is willing to spent for our NT even giving in to high demands of some players. Thats why I don't believe that SBP is not supporting ang youth program financially.

Having a grassroot strategy that is effective is another story.

Yup, and considering that no B.League player join is consistent that Kai is not going to play in AG at all. Beside he is not playing right now in B League opening weekend means is really injured. So I guess another tsismis from Snowden Badua

          • So that was the takeaway from the presser? Mikey and possibly Kai wanting to play but wanted a sack of cash?

I'm actually ticked off that Marcial had the balls to put on a smug face and gloat at how that team won in spite of (name all excuses mentioned). It's the sad part of his job to make the PBA look more awesome than it actually is, but it's hard to take anything away from them because a team of PBA players (except Kouame) that wasn't even Tim Cone's choice went home with an Asian games gold medal and partied like it was 1990.

Also, Vargas senile as ever, alluding to how much the PBA has "sacrificed" just to make the World Cup and Asian Games work; as if to say they're not changing a thing and even willing to do it without "talent outside the country" (definitely talking about those playing abroad). The league had already tried aligning with the FIBA calendar during Noli Eala's time, but two things happened: the PBA going back to the 3-conference bullshit when Eala left and FIBA changing their entire cycle starting 2017.

It's not rocket science. All the PBA has to do is schedule their off-seasons between early July until late September then plan their stupid 3-conference format from there. They'll never do that knowing they'll lose to both the UAAP and NCAA for venues (unless it's Ginebra playing, college games sell more tickets) and TV slots (bigger paying ads during college season) to start the PBA.

            • Again losing a conference is a massive sacrifice for the PBA. PBA ratings peak during every playoffs. Hence the 3 conference system. But then again it would've been hell for the PBA if they didn't adjust for the world cup. This Asian Games less so but Im sure they are happy they did.

One more mistake this player might face a silent ban in the league
I don’t think so… he is very valuable for TNT, they won already 2 championships with him… not playing for Gilas is not a valid reason for him to be ban in the PBA… it’s their right not to join Gilas anyway… and I don’t care if he doesn’t play for Gilas… there are many players who wants to play… so this issue is useless for Gilas development moving forward..

That’s impossible bro… no B league players played last Asiad… Kai might payed big time last WC but I don’t think he is the other one that PBA and SBP officials mentioned…

It's one of those "kung gusto may paraan, kung ayaw may dahilan" things. You're only looking at eleven to a maximum twenty five games (lol twice to beat Quarters then 3-2 Semis and 4-3 Finals) per conference and yet there's a discrepancy with having breaks during the Commissioner's Cup (malamang Pasko/New Year) and Governor's Cup (malamang Holy Week) despite the fact that it only takes less than 3 months and a week to finish the All-Filipino Cup. We're overrating the entire structure of the PBA as a professional entity. They're not as professional as they'd like to believe they are. All those major FIBA tournaments happen anyway from FIBA Asia, the World Cup, and the Olympics (if we even make it) will always take place between July and September. They've proven to assemble teams during FIBA windows/SEA Games/Asian Games and come up with results, all that's left is having the time to prepare for major tournaments and not make it look like they're sacrificing limbs to do it.

It's a blatant self-congratulatory, holier-than-thou display from the dirty old men's club of the PBA Board. I despise the hyprocrisy of accusers who relish their thirty pieces of silver.

It's a time to unite and celebrate, but these pseudo-saints are using the gold medal to spread divide-and-conquer remarks.

Of course, the more gullible ones are off to the races to solve their blind item riddle. It's funny how the gold has masked the PBA Board's warts. There seems to be no shortage of takers willing to swallow their presser agenda. Hook, line, and sinker.

Make no mistake. The Asian Games gold is the coaches' and players' achievement for the nation.

The PBA Board can take its 'woe-is-me' lamentations and shove it up its ponytail end.

                          • People are still believing Snow Badua in 2023? Anyway, I don't think it's Mikey Williams because Vargas manages the team he plays for. Also, Kai and the rest of the B. Leaguers as well as KBLers aren't available for the Asian Games, so I don't think it's him.

so you're telling me that someone like luka doncic who has a USD200m++ contract played for peanuts? more importantly the dallas mavericks didn't ask for insurance? wow, that's patriotism right there.

for all we know they talked to his camp before he left for japan
