  • Fatigue almost cost Gilas the game. Brownlee, Oftana and I think Perez played without relief in the 2nd half. But Tim Cone has no choice to expend his starters as his bench is not that deep.

An ugly win. But we’ll take it.

We’ve again reached the semis of the Asian Games. To the hardcore Pinoy basketball fanstics, What is our record when we reached the Semis? How many times did we advanced after the Semis?

    • Another AG semis for Tim Cone. I hope he does better this time.

You need those rotations in KO competitions and playoff games, though. We have 34 hours of rest, though, need to take advantage.

Another factor is, over half the lineup is 32 and above, and only 3 are under 30.

        • last time we get in semis is the 2002 asiad..and this asiad is a deep tournament taht 2002 one was overrated in a sense that lebanon isnt there
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
          1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

Not sure about our record in the semis but I believe this is the first time we've reached the Asiad semis since 2002. Last time we won a medal was in 1998, which was incidentally coached by Cone.

Interestingly, Korea managed to "beat" China in the gold medal game despite Yao Ming, Wang Zhizhi, and Bateer. That just shows you the level homecooking that happens in the Asian games. lol

i'd rather play a 50% scottie than a 100% Alas at this rate

I hope to those who are critical thinking, we having this TOs issues since the 90s, its our chemistry and lack of prep is the main issue. Alas has been out of Gilas for years. CJ games with the same team is limited. With his high octane offense he is bound to make mistake like what CTab said about JC game

                      • I think IF we do beat china its gonna be by no more than 7 points, its gonna be a huge struggle with fatigue playing major factor

Another note: Alas turns 32 in November. Showed why he was a really late addition.

                            • Our team management and coaching staff should be ready tomorrow and make sure our players will be 100% ready physically and mentally expect the unexpected broken bus/ring, bad officiating and other tactic.

Playing 3 straight games in 3 days is not easy but i'm confident we can beat china.

wait is the game tomorrow or next day? AIScore sched is tomorrow oct 4...

one good thing cone is doing is that he is utilizing oftana as a 3 and D player, its tempting to say that oftana lacks the "killer instinct" or plays too relaxed but imho i don't think oftana enjoys the one on one "bara bara" type of basketball.
Oftana is your typical 3nD, he stays composed and doesnt rush things
