Asian games is sept 23 to oct 8 i think?

Uaap starts 30th sept. Will uapp give way? Prob there is i dont wvhn think we have a team to sent yet
So you want pba to knockon uaaps doors on the 11th hour? 1) will look very bad on pba 2) what kind of chemistry are you thinking theyll develop? No system from whoever coach will be appointed of top of that.

Pretty sure uaap will allow as long as team owners gives a thumbs up. But it might be better to just send tnt core with pba bunots or give it to ginebra and ctc plus bunots and brownlee. There is a bit of chemistry already and these teams has been in shape waiting foe pba opening.

    • SBP and Chot probably thinking roight now why the SEA games happened prior the World Cup, that tournament could have been the perfect redemption arc for them, instead Gilas might be humiliated even further in the Asiad

      • So assuming the only available players for the Asian games would be coming from the PBA and China enforces only FIBA eligibility rules then we have a rather underwhelming pool to choose from.

Most likely the naturalized player slot will be used for Justin Brownlee

Abueva's old, Marcio's old, June Mar's old, Japeth's old, Troy's ineffective, Lee's now a liability, Oftana stagnated as an international player, Malonzo hasn't shown anything thus far in FIBA, Arana's stuck as a 6'7" low-post big, Beau is a slow 6'5" guy who can be of some use for post D. The only players under 30 in that list are Arvin (27 going 28), Malonzo (27), Oftana (27), Mamu (24), Mocon (28), Arana (24), Black (27), and Tio (25).

Far cry from the generation of Castro, RDO, Jimmy, Terrence, Pingris, Chan, and Gabe.

                • Im pretty sure the current PBA players in the world cup roster and those who were cut would be carried over to form the Asian Games team core. And Clarkson's slot would be taken over by Justin Brownlee. So those are already 9 players and Im thinking they would tap 3 more players from the PBA pool to round out the team unless they miraculously invite Justin Baltazar to the team which is highly unlikely.

Brain Drain in the PBA is real. The best players are either abroad, ineligible or in college. And those in college will probably go abroad too.

Depending how SBP and PBA adjusts to their dying league.

good point. i dont think PBA is dying tho. they are still the premier league in the PH. sure revenues are down and gate receipts are down but i don't think team owners care about it that much at all.

Looking at the upcoming draft, it seems their talent pool will be replenished. Too bad these new draftees are not good or ineligible for FIBA ball.

true, the talent pool seems to be better, but we all know what will happen and where these talented players in the draft will go eventually
also afaik PBA has changed its rules on PH players playing on foreign leagues as well. i think they made it easier for them to return.
