Northport’s (potential) Arvin Tolentino replacement. Not bad. They still got a squad with Lucero Munzon and Navarro returning after his injury.

In the UAAP you could not say that with how short but bulky guards like Cagulangan are allowed to be excessively physical without severe repercussions. I think the PBA might have seen the possibilities when you allow tall skilled athletic guys to move. Against BAD, it was only Malonzo who was able to matchup against their tall SFs. It is to the PBA's benefit if like Malonzo, they allow guys like Lucero to play their game without fear of getting injury because of excessive physicality.
The disallowing of hard fouls when going to the basket. Used to be, when you attack the rim, you will get hit/fouled hard that you won't be able to do it in a consistent basis if you're skinny (unless you're crazy and durable like Iverson). Guys weren't even required to go for the ball, they can use their fouls however they want. Now, the defenders always have to be going for the ball and cannot hit excessively. I think that's a rational change for pba to make.
There are many other rule-changes but that one along with hand-check ban and freedom of movement is the biggest change in the nba.
Now, laterals are so important because you have to defend with your feet. In Asia, I think this is one of the reasons why China is in a decline, their players are so bad laterally (no soccer culture). Would probably be the case with us also if not for our Filfors.

In any case, let's just hope long quick wings keep getting encouraged, as in SoKor.

Well, Gabe Norwood has had 15 seasons in the league. Oftana hasn't been injured much, and he's still pretty good defensively outside the PBA. Will and Zav did have a non-contact ACL injury, which sucks, but I don't think it was because of the physicality they endured.

Oftana has been healthy. But I won't count Gabe. As far as I know for his whole career he was basically a perimeter defensive specialist who rarely drove and went into the paint. It is not only whether there were contact injuries or not. You rarely see 6'5 and up athletic guys drive to the paint hard even if there's just a 6'5 ground bound center defending the paint. We have lots of 6'5 and athletic guys, particularly Filfors but they are not effective for some reason. Then here comes bad with 6'6 to 6'9 SFs towering over our 6'2-6'3 SFs.

Actually, that's not a bad idea at all. 2 different venues could be a good idea if the PBA wants more games, and compressing the season calendar at the same time. More butts in the seats, e, plus you can extend the TV reach with another channel.
