let me fck check you sadik, that Ginebra team is not weak, first Caguioa though hobbled played until game 7 but one of the top scorers in that conference, Jayjay only missed the last few games of the finals and was the BPC, Menk was the finals mvp with Tubid, Hatfield was on leave and was not injured, Ginebra won 13 straight and swept Red Bull there's no way that it's a weaker team than the current Meralco, plus the role players were good they even have Junthy Valenzuela , Mark Macapagal was already with Coca Cola during that time, i don't know where do you get your infos and confidently posting it here as if it's a fact but i don't blame you, you are a TNT fan, so saying that Ginebra team is weaker than this Meralco team is just outright rubbishLast edited by Giannis34GOD; 06-10-2024, 04:52 PM.

here is the lineup of that 2008 team
Mamaril
Reavis
Menk
Crisano
Alexander
Wilson
Pablo
Santos
Salvacion
Tubid
Valenzuela
Pacana
Artadi
Helterbrand
Caguioa
Macky Escalona
it may not be a collection of stars compare to the current PBA, but this team has depth and one of the best defensive teams in that conference
team ended up

yes they were i am a ginebra fan so i know the history of my team, that team was not battling injury up until the finals, they started 2-7 because of wrong choice of imports but 8-1 in the second round and was 16-1 before the game 2 lost in the finals, that team was strong on both sides, Mark and Jayjay were at their prime, Tubid is one of the best 2 way player in the league, Alexander was a gem of an import , while the supporting cast are good too, one of the deepest ginebra teams in recent memory, even the corpse of Vic Pablo was useful, Ginebra became underdog when Jayjay went down and Mark was hobbling but Ginebra's depth and experienced still prevailed, but calling that team weak compare to other champion teams is rubbish, a team will not win 19 out of its last 23 games if that team is weak, and that team swept the same sta lucia 2008 champion team with an import in the quarterfinals though its only best of 3 but they beat them 3/4 times in that conference, the winning streak could even be up to 17 games if not for Ginebra's lone defeat against Red Bull in the 2nd round of elimination, that 2008 run of Ginebra is one of the best runs of a team, sweeping Yeng's Red Bull is not an easy feat, though this run too played a big part on why it took 8 years before they won again, as it started Mark's downfall though he still won an MVP award after 4 years but he was just a shadow of his old self, even Junthy Valenzuela never fully recovered after his injury in this finals and ended up retiring early

Amidst their fierce battle for the PBA Philippine Cup crown, the San Miguel Beermen and Meralco Bolts have come together to show their unwavering support for Filipino athletes heading to the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics. SMB basically winning the game with 1:30 left. Foul trouble in the 4th forced him to sit out several minutes. This forced bench players to score like Vic Manuel, Romeo and others. This is where SMB's depth came into play. Junemar was fresh in the 4th and was a presence on offense and defense. Gallent needs to maximize his bench and let JMF rest like in this game. Player per player they are more talented and they have the best player in Junemar. They should win. For the first time they reached they reached their average of 107 in the conference. It is because they maximized their bench.

Meralco 92, SMB- 88
Gallent was outcoached by Nenad. Only JMF scored for SMB. Gallent could not develop any plays to make non-JMF 5s score enough. They won game 4 because JMF was able to rest and had enough juice in the 4th. This game Vic Manuel could not score on post-ups and so JMF had to return sooner because they were losing the game without him. Other SMB players need to hit their open shots or else it will be another SMB lost.
SMB don't run fastbreaks because of June Mar. They should try running more with him on the bench.

Hands off for meralco in out playing smb in the series if not for that game 2 hiccup, they couldve won 4-1 but smb might out luck them in the next two games..as nobody beats junmar fajardo led smb in less than seven games ever since Ginebra beat them in 2018..its like demanding meralco to do what they have planned and execute it 5 times in 7 games..To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.
