my main takeaway from this is that his main advantage over kai on their 1st year in the nbl is that he played for the top nbl team and was an nbl champion, probably being able to showcase himself more in the playoffs vs kai's bottom-3 team

this actually makes sense, this is how guys like matthew delavedova & patrick mccaw were able to continue their nba careers

To add a little more in depth analysis on the difference between Makur and Kai's path .

When Makur left the US college he was a year older than when Kai left Ignite , that extra year showcased to NBA scouts his gsme enough to be invited to NBA combine in 2021 , (Unlike Kai who was not invited which showed he hasn't showed anything in Ignite for teams to be interested), the higher level of NBA interest is further confirmed when the NBL front office invites Makur as a next star a recognition thst he is a serious prospect. While Kai's camp requested the same same Next star status deal he was rejected by NBL front office based on assessment he was not a serious NBA prospect these are all verifiable by people you talk to in the industry, I've spoken directly with GMs of 2 NBL clubs (1 signed Kai).

So essentially both Kai and Makur had 1 finall year in 2021 as both were automatically eligible. Main difference is Makur was more of a serious prospect at the start of their final year prior to draft to prove their worth. Yet Makur showed more in Sydney and SL than Kai to secure a 2 way.

If there is a sense of feeling that Kai has been trying to make the NBA for so long now and is an old prospect, it's not actually imagination. This is really Kai's 3rd summer to try to make the NBA, with the 1st two summer opportunities he failed to convince he's a serious prospect.

now this is the problem with Philippine media like Spin, they simply report on what a agent tells them (Sayson), witb inaccurate underatsnding , of process. And no added insight on Kai 's lack of interest from NBA teams

Me and Patbev has the same weaknesses but that doesn't make me an NBA lol.

Jokic is ridiculously strong unlike Kai and his coordination is on another level. BBIQ can only carry you so far if you've got stone hands and uncoordinated. Watch how Jokic operates compared to supposedly more athletic bigmen. He's so much smoother and predictable.

Scouts might have tagged them with the same negatives but let's face it he's got euro genes which made it easier to work out weaknesses unlike Kai who's asian. Take a look at his brothers they have a different built than us. It would be much harder to convince scouts that an awkward skinny asian 7 footer would overcome his weaknesses than a chubby eastern Euro big to lose weigh and improve his explosiveness.

One of the absurd and ridiculous comparisons made by Peezone in the past. He did not factor in Jokic turned pro at an earlier age (16 or 17). Plus he had tougher and quality competitions at an earlier age.

Now Jokic won two NBA MVPs and an NBA Finals appearance, his much hyped boy toy is still struggling to be noticed.

I hope Sotto makes an impressive showing in the two-day Utah mini-camp as its most likely a tryout for a Summer League roster. Any info as to who else was invited to the mini-camp?

kihei clark got invited to the lakers minicamp .... why is the reaction this news lukewarm compared to kai joining the jazz minicamp? why is homer sayson not picking up that story, if he really is a reputable and unbiased pr man este journalist?

To be fair , what a journalist should.do is provide accurate context, no problem with reporting Kai has been invited to a 2 day camp, but add insight on what it really means , like adding research info thst evey year about 500 different other FA are invited to camps., and further add that of undrafted FA who were never invited to combine , about 1 % eventually get signed , now thst is accurate reporting..with insight.. and mot misleading hype..

people getting sensitive when presented with reality , and BTW your statement is contradictory to the decisions made by NBA teams, Waadenberg was invited to the NBA Summer league last year, And Mojave King invited to combine this year ( who's citizenship is NZ , not Australian) , and many in mainstream US media (multiple reports) have projected King to be signed to a 2 way contract (if not drafted) , King also has been in many mocks and is a 2 time next star player (recognition given to serious NBA prospect , rejected for Kai). ..
Goes to show again how way way of people are in realizing what Kai's real status is as not a serious prospect. the NBA literally has spoken for the last 3 summers confirming Kai is not a serious prospect. furthermore Waadenberg was voted top U 23 NBL player (next generation player) while Kai wasn't even a top 5 candidate .. so what are u saying ???
