He was a FA right after the drsft , heaps of FA (Maker , Cooks , Brantley) were signed to ( 2 ways, guaranteed, 10 days) contracts over last 10 months .
it's not simply a case that Kai was not drafted, he wasn't invited in list of top 100 prospects, and wasn't offered anything as undrafted, (note the next 20 best draft prospects 60 to 80) are given 2 ways..

It shows how way way off Kai is a serious prospect, doesnt help his trajectory over last 3 years is bad for supposedly a still developing player

Yes in context of Asian teams that is NOT over hype casue Asian trams are winless.vs those same Euro teams since 2010.
yes not over hype cause I openly admit NZ will not qualify if in Europe, and consistently just plays beyond its weight (talent) in the WC to place consistently as high as stronger 2nd tier Euro and Americas teams,
Consistently for every WC and Asian qualifiers this century, NZ has placed higher than any Asian team

there is no hype exageration there, just super accurate. Just consistent better results.

To others my apologies as this is OT, does not belong in this thread.. and for being so so repetitive... which i understand is annoying. Sorry agsin .. as was simply replying to Zairex bringing NZ into conversation..

      In summary
NZ is as good as advertised (Asian context )
Kai hype is false advertising (not a serious NBA prospect as claimed)

        That is blasphemous.

Kai is a legit NBA prospect, it's just facts that the league is run by a bunch of bigots.

They will tolerate East Asians like Watanabe and half cast Asians like Hachimura, but that is where they draw the line.

It doesn't help that the Filipino people are the most oppressed people in NBA circles.

If it wasn't for this serious prejudice towards Filipinos our boy would be an NBA All Star by now.

          • I am one of those people hoping that Kai would make it in the NBA but the odds are against him. Kai signing with the Hiroshima Dragonflies for the next season in the B-League, for me only indicates that his management believes ( most likely) that no NBA team or G-League teams would sign him. Of course, I wish Kai all the best.

If you check his profile. All posts are like this. It's another of those new trolls. Very similar to the ones that got banned before. I wonder why the mods haven't done any actions yet. Hopefully, these insects stay in this toxic thread rather than spreading their flamebaits elsewhere.

                  • Is Kai Sotto now part of the Utah Jazz summer league roster??

                    • Reposted here , remember college seniors rated lowly have already tested the NBA waters in earlier drafts , ( entered and withdrew due to lack of interest),

Kai essentially tested the waters in 2021 then found a loophole to defer and was forced to enter in 2022 , if he had a choice he would defer in 2022 and 2023 as there is still very little interest (verified by no FA offers)

this is really the situation if you're totslly objectively honest (without blinders)

No news saying that. Utah did this mini camp last year as well:https://kslsports.com/487345/utah-ja...ent-mini-camp/

it looks like a due diligence from their part to check on free agents that they may want to add in the summer leagues. If Kai does well, maybe he can get a call up. Nice opportunity for him

They probably pay better. It's not a bad deal but not ideal if you're trying to get noticed by an NBA team

                          • Maybe Wasserman was able to negotiate for 5 more playing minutes for Kai next season. Instead of 5 minutes he will now play for 10 minutes.

To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..

                              • We will gladly wait for Kai's peak while he preserves his health with Hiro while banking 100k USD per month.lol Kai could do his thing and be impactful but it is also a given that young players arent handed the reigns of a team when they are starting. Rookies usually watch the games on the sidelines unless the team are geared towards development.haha di na problema ni kai kung ayaw pumasa nung evans and nung mga points guard.

How can adults not envy Kai when he is earning way bigger with too much media attention plus a shoe deal at his young age?haha Kai had a very great start then somehow they werent passing the ball. Though it should have been ideal if Kai would still grind it out even without passes but the good thing is that he is earning a lot while preserving his health. Eventually, he will peak and he will be a main man in his team.

Wiseman, Kuminga and countless young players experience the same things. Wemby was benched a lot of times prior to his transfer to Mets.haha normal lang yan. kai had way tougher opponents in the JBL.haha i would worry if he was benched at age 25.hahaha Common sense still too uncommon in IBN.haha
