what do you guys think will Kai perform next Bleague season? will he finally show improvements or will he do Kobe P mode (contented with his current skillset as long as there are highlights)
Admittedly Kai after TSF resulting in an Ignite contract is indeed a recognition he was a serious draft prospect at that point (in fact he was in a 2nd round mock). Let's assume he was the highest paid Ignite player , none of that is being argued . It's what happened in Ignite resulting in leaving . From there on he was no longer a serious prospect reflective in Mocks and confirmed by zero combine and g league invite , further verified as after going undrafted , no FA offers for 10.months. ..
So is it accurate to say he is not a prospect for the last year ?(absolutely), was he prospect when signed by Ignite of course he was , (unfortunately we don't live in the past and can't erase his stints in Ignite , 36ers and Hiroshima. ..it's common for highly rated HS graduates to fizzle out
Regarding the hype behind Kai: That is the pinoy youtuber's fault for milking Kai's popularity. For the local news site, I do not see it as hyping, they only want to spread the news regarding Kai's next move nba man yan, b-league or nbl lol! Do not interpret it as hyping agad.

He will probably have double double figures, but not like a takeover game mode.Probably at least 10-13 pts per game and 10-15 rbs per game.
NBA mini camp and SL are not useless per se IF you are a legit NBA prospect. Realistically Kai isn't (undrafted, hasn't improved on his weaknesses and even regressed in his recent stint in bleague)
Regressed? That is too much. Kai first week in the B-league was good then after that it was all "being inconsistent". Me thinks the reason for being inconsistent is Kai current skills now as a bigman.
If indeed Kai is a legit NBA bigman then he should be in the NBA but he went undrafted. Needs a lot of work on his game and Kai knows this.

Seems like its not part of Kai's nature to dominate/dictate a game. if trained properly, he'll be the perfect role player, setting screens, hustle, defense. Heck that could be his calling card to the NBA, Cant recall any undrafted player who dominated a foreign league that was signed as a focal point of offense , they are usually the role players or the 10-12th guy off the bench. Pat Beverly, Jeremy Lin, Boban, Finney Smith, Nocioni, Maxi Kleber are rotational players/fringe starters at best, but had a great career in the league.
I do expect Kai to average close to a double double, hopefully they work on his strength and stamina.

well you said it yourself, kai's first week was good and went from stagnant to regression (specially in the playroffs where everyone expected him to play harder)
imo NBL Kai > B league Kai, concentrating on transitioning to a traditional big is a downgrade from being a modern big.. Kai's frame is more of a Wang Zhi Zhi anyway (outside, slick big) rather than a June Mar traditional banger. He was already in the right mindset in NBL (you can see he was trying), now he his game is lethargic and as if he wasn't even trying
Local Filipino media was very un- informed of Kai's real status , (auto-eligible, did not need to declare, was not invited to next star, team option declined , implications of not top 100 etc etc) the ignorance did not give them a good indication of his real status as not a serious prospect. US media bluntly say he wasn't a serious NBA draft prospect or anywhere near currently, Philippine media never are as direct.
the difference was very evident, while Philippine media was reporting Kai declared for the draft, US media simply released without fanfare Kai was already auto entered. (Auto eligible) a concept so foreign to Piinoy fans.
While Kai obviously did not regress, his stature as an NBA prospect certainly has regressed. The reason is essentially the "college age years, 19 to 21 to keep the trajectory to remain a serious prospect one has to rapidly improve (Kai failed to )..essentially one's stats production should double from 1st to 3rd year. .. so yeah that's why it understandable for some to say Kai has regressed as a prospect (just saying it as it actually is) it actually is a very valid concern imagine a 3rd or 4th year college player with the same stats level as in his freshman year, that's essentially doom . Objectively do you think that college player will get any interest from the NBA? Answer is too obvious.
You all remember there's that same type of user who was going all-out and uncontrollable with the way he posting... Is that him again? their post have that same weird energy vibes
IMO minicamp invite and SL won't earn Kai an NBA contract, since his body of work in the NBL and the B League already shows what kind of player he is at the present. He isn't a prospect anymore since he became undrafted, so the days of dreaming about some NBA team signing him because of his potential has already sailed away.
I would be ecstatic IF he gets signed to the G League after his USA stint because it means the NBA is taking stock. But I won't be surprised if nothing will come out of this latest USA foray. I still hold the hope no matter how slim it is that he'll get a call-up from the NBA in the future. But from what I am seeing NOW, he needs to work on a lot of things before it becomes a reality.
Well I'm admittedly unapologetic a fan of NZ basketball who I'm involved with, in the context of Philippine and Asian Basketball ( this thread ), repetition aside , there is no over hyping NZ . As indeed in the World cup aside from Australia they are by far the most competitive team in the Asia Pacific region, their number of wins in WC last 5 editions is more than all Asian teams combined. , but I totally get it that rubs of in the wrong way , this being a Philippine basketball section, so my apologies, but there is really no hype exaggeration.
No overhyping really. Just creating narrative for your NZ. Beating a turkey team who didn't have stars on roster and bench players played. Turkey treating it non bearing game. Saying you beat a real euro team.
Yet you argue that Korea team beat a not full NZ team so that win is not legit. Same situation but different logic. So who again not hyping.
