So essentially Kai's commercialism in high school made him ineligible for US college system

    2. The ideal pathway in hindsight for none US base high school players is actually , development player in either pro league in Australia NBL or Europe ( Like Luka and Wemby), but Pinoy industry are not familiar with the pathway and it's implication consequences on NBA draft rules ( auto eligibility ) ,

I hope by now after my pages and pages of post , people understand the implications of those 2 points above, obviously it didn't help that Kai received celebrity rock star status in his early teens , with people around him trying to monetized the star status and earn quick buck without consideration of his long term success. added to that is overzealous fans believed the hype driven by monetary gain, the rest is history. i hope people learn lessons from this

Trivia : Is Kai the 1st notable homegrown Pinoy that did not go to college ?
I think Terry Saldana who had a long career PBA career, a former MIP Awardee was the first notable pba player who didn't go to college, but definitely Kai had already surpassed him

nb: I think Severino or JPM could provide info on any player prior the 80s including MICAA and those Olympic and FIBA teams

      • Reed Juntilla. Went straight from high school to provincial leagues and then to the PBL, PBA and now MPBL.

        • Kai should aspire to be Jokic. At present, his best case scenario is Javale McGee.

To be fair young Javale was one of the most athletic bigs in the league and even joined the dunk contest. . I would consider us lucky if Kai managed to have half the career that Javale had despite being in a lot of embarrassing moments

                • Seriously though we make fun of Tacko Fall and some suggest Kai should never be compared to Tacko , well look at Falls body of work

                  2 way NBA contract .
China with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers of the CBA. He's been one of the most productive players on the team so far, averaging 14.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, and three blocks per game

to be accurate it's actually reverse and insulting for Tacko to be compared to Kai, as his body of work is by far superior to kai.

It looks like a tryout for a Summer League invitation. IIRC, Utah was one of 9 NBA teams that invited him for an individual pre-draft workouts last year.

I hope Wasserman arranges more mini-camps for Sotto. The more the better chances of NBA teams seeing Sotto’s improvements.
