  • Super pay cut if Kai signs in G- league. but if the goal is to make the NBA, his chances being based in the US for an immediate call up are more feasible if he is US base .

Kai had real noise over him while the only overhype is Analyze's claim that NZ had produced an unknown next KD and Ben "Fool's" Gold is better than Kai.haha We understand the struggle to the path of success while others are just criticizing because they are too engulfed with their insecurities.haha It is a general statement and if it hits you then it is a BULL'S EYE.haha

We even supported Pac when he was a nobody starting his career with Blow by Blow. Our support for Kai is genuine and unwavering.

      Right time and situation...
Will TSF KAI be given an another opportunity?

Which of them give Kai that any type of opportunity - not necessarily a contract "contract" but maybe a couple of them - SL Team - Camp Invite - TwoWay/1-2year non-guaranteed contract ?

Miami - Home of the Undrafted (Kai being undrafted and obviously Coach Spo Connection)
Spurs - Seems they have all the time and situation
OKC and Kings - Wasserman connection perhaps

*BIG COMEBACK (the BIG BALL ERA is coming and spreading - hopefully Kai is one of the beneficiaries here)
*Coach Spo, particularly he coaches them this Heat Team to the Finals, sprinkle Laguna some love, two-way Contract for KAI def worth the eyes

      • I think Kai and Kai's camp were too focused on shortcuts. Look at Edee he became the most dominant guy in college. However even with his length, height and strength his draft position is unsure. Outside thr NBA he will probably get a good contract because of his college performance.

A big doesnt have to be a unicorn to have a good international career. As it has been since ages ago, defense and motor are still import for bigs. Jokic might not be an excellent rim protector but he is a good post defender and has stamina.

I think Kai has to drop the highlight alley oops and block attempts. He just has to focus on stamina and to gain enough strength to be a decent defensively in the post. Let's forget about the unicorn nonsense.

        • Wass really means business with Kai and it is so stupid to assume that the NBA isn't their ultimate goal for Kai. Kai's occasional struggle after ignite was because of a bad team fit and he was playing way older and stronger opponents. Sometimes common sense is really uncommon here. If you put Chet in the same situation, he will also struggle.

Linusports hopefully, Wass will steer Kai's career the right way this time around. I can understand the Hiro stint. it was just a mere stopover. We know Kai can do things as long as he is given the right opportunities and situations. It is normal for young players to struggle.

          • the delusion continues. let’s get back to reality..,.most likely a summer league invitation. but its a very long road to an nba call up.

            • Admittedly when Kai was in TSF he was more of a serious NBA draft prospect than Besson for 2021 and Travers for 2022 (both were drafted)

If we could erase the last 3 years from memory, then yeah Kai probably was a top 100 prospect for the 2021 draft at that point in time in 2020 (TSF), unfortunately that is not what happened, which actually is not uncommon there are many highly rated high school prospects projected to make the NBA that fizzle out in 2 or 3 years, Kai is just another number of this happening.

reality though, and not just basketball but life in general, not everyone gets the right opportunity or be in the right situation. you just have to make the most out of what hand is dealt to you.

His handlers have made a lot of blunders. I'd put a lot of blame on them but Kai has to play better both in practice and in games.

It is not everyday that it is a rainy or stormy day time will come it will be a day of opportunity. Chauncey Billups was bouncing around the league till he found his home with Detroit. Kai made changes with his management team and I like how they were handling him. Even SBP cant just pressure Kai to play and Wass dictates Kai's schedule. I am not really worried about Kai's game because he just needs to be stronger and everything will follow. His deficiencies with strength and stamina will gradually be resolved as he age and reached his peak.

His supporters just needs to be patient and just enjoy the journey. As for the naysayers, they could continue with their pathetic ways and hopefully that would help them sleep better at night.hahaha

but its also possible that his handlers knew from the start that the nba was but a pipe dream so they looked for opportunities elsewhere? how much has kai earned? USD500K in a span of 3 years? that's not bad at all if you realize that if not for ewp and even joel bell (yes, don't forget he got kai the nbl gig not wasserman) kai would be in the uaap right now playing for peanuts.

i think his handlers know what they're doing, they even have homer sayson and quinito henson writing all sorts of glorified articles about kai and his seemingly clear path to the nba.

This makes more sense than all the hype and endless apple-orange comparisons combined.

He will get another token NBA exposure with the Summer League. Let's see if he gets more than 5 minutes this time.

To me everything felt going downhill when they decided to leave Ignite , pissing off Shaw. They could have resolved everything if they communicated properly instead of relaying everything to the media first probably for PR purposes. People speculated that he wasn't going to get minutes anyway as Shaw was incompetent daw. Then there were rumors that the reason he went home was for an lucrative endorsement. WTH

                              • With the benefit of hindsight , this to me was the problem that caused unfavorable outcomes,

1, The Philippines basketball eco system is very heavily US centric influence , most in the local industry are only familiar with the US/ Philippine college then turn pro ( NBA / PBA) pathway, yet the heavily commercialize Philippine high school system is or was mismatched with the US NCAA div 1 amateur rules. So essentially Kai's commercialism in high school made him ineligible for US college system

                                2. The ideal pathway in hindsight for none US base high school players is actually , development player in either pro league in Australia NBL or Europe ( Like Luka and Wemby), but Pinoy industry are not familiar with the pathway and it's implication consequences on NBA draft rules ( auto eligibility ) ,

I hope by now after my pages and pages of post , people understand the implications of those 2 points above, obviously it didn't help that Kai received celebrity rock star status in his early teens , with people around him trying to monetized the star status and earn quick buck without consideration of his long term success. added to that is overzealous fans believed the hype driven by monetary gain, the rest is history. i hope people learn lessons from this

Trivia : Is Kai the 1st notable homegrown Pinoy that did not go to college ?
