Just happy that Kai is performing well in B League now.

Nba will come if it is meant to be whether if it is 3 yrs from now. Or 5 yrs from now.

Even if he didnt make it, he is still a success imo.

Especially if he will always be an asset for Gilas in Fiba Competitions.
I've said it before and I'll say it again:

Kai's best shot at the NBA is becoming the best player he could be in the FIBA level (Asia or outside).

This is the same route Hamed Haddadi took and look how he got offered a contract.

Whether or not Kai can be regular in an NBA team's rotation is a different story altogether.

        Another link

Japan’s BLeague enjoys some of the highest overseas basketball salaries in Asia - and the entire world. Wages can go as high as $1 million USD for some players with established overseas pros such as Yuki Togashi, Thirdy Ravena and Nick Fazekas having all signed significant contracts in this league.

His best shot is not to have a pg that pad their assists stats,he should continue with this Bleague coach that finally encouraging him to make his own shots.

As if money is always been the issue. Kai playing in the PBA would be a downward path in his young career. Him getting drafted in the PBA means him being the next JMF.

He's the breadwinner of the familyt I don't think Irwin is working anymore.Kai and his management drop the Gleague because it pays way too low even by Gilas standard.

              • dont believe in Snow unless its Converge related, but really dont believe Snow in general, theres a reason why he was ousted by pretty much every group there is.

Kid would have been in the nba if they took took either the euroleague or the gleague path, but no they went for the money

which is understandable since there are lot of uncertainties and went for the money

                  pba can always wait

                  • Kid really improved a lot ever since he left G-League/Ignite. When he was fresh out of the G-League he seemed lethargic and lazy to rebound. Now he is rolling.

I really think he should have gone to Europe for basketball development and join international competition and he will eventually be scouted.

His stint with Ignite seems to have temporarily stalled his development and made money out of making him a product "model". Glad he found his way to the NBL then B League.

This to some, specially if you have an American or Euro partner will sound "preposterous",even the Bible says man gotta leave his parents and move on with the better half. But its ingrained in our cultrue even in the 21st century. He's lucky its just his direct family, how many showbiz and political personality we know that they lost their fortune due to the fact, they shoulder not only their direct family but,uncles,nephews,nieces,cousins,etc,etc.etc.

It's preposterous especially if the parent is abled bodied, can still work but chose not to. Parents making their kids their retirement plan denies the opportunity for their kids to build up their savings for their own retirement so their kids can enjoy life.

Reading stories from people who come from this family is heartbreaking. There are many young Filipinos who want to save up but are finding it impossible because their parents made them their retirement plan in addition to passing of being a parent to their siblings to them. Worse is, these young people are pressured to fund their parents' ostentatious ways so they have something to brag to their amigos and amigas.

How parents make their kids their retirement plan even if they can still work is a bad habit many Filipinos should forego and I hope with the new generation of Filipinos complaining about this, I hope it will eventually fade away.

In Kai's case, his parents making him the retirement plan is affecting his basketball development and slowed down the path to his NBA dream. He had to become a "model" for his former agent instead of focusing on his basketball development because his family made him the retirement plan.

This scenario has been discussed on this forum since he was U16,the fact that Irwin totally just depended on Kai and the mom pretty much said if we're not going, then Kai is not going also.Just imagine the gf/wife scenario where she has to contend with the domineering family lol.

Poor kid, really. It seems that it is actually his parents that are holding back his dream and basketball development. It's not like his parents are PWDs to make him the breadwinner.

And that's downright manipulative of his mom. I hope he doesn't do that to his future kids.
